Grey Plastic Mistletoe

Summary: Barbara really shouldn't have been surprised that even the mistletoe was some shade of grey in the SGC, and yet she still was.

Even though she had been working at the SGC for several months, Barbara wasn’t sure if would ever get used to the sheer amount of grey in the complex. It was everywhere, and the colored lines on the floor did little to break up the overall monotony. The fact that she was mentally complaining about it, Gotham native that she was, seriously meant that there was something wrong here. In an almost defiance of this overwhelming “blah”, Barbara did her best to keep several plans alive, hoping that the severe lack of sun wouldn’t damage them too much.
It was around Christmastime, and Barbara was carefully wheeling herself through the corridors, when something on the ceiling caught her eye. It was grey--of course--but she could almost swear there was a hint of green tint to it.
“What’s that supposed to be?” she asked Daniel Jackson, who was walking the other way. He stopped, and looked at where Barbara was pointing. He tilted his head slightly as he studied it, apparently as confused as she was.
“If I were to venture a guess, I think it’s mistletoe,” he answered hesitantly, turning back to look at her. “I make no promises though.”
“Isn’t mistletoe supposed to be a little greener and a little less grey?” Barbara asked, trying not to be surprised that even the mistletoe was a some shade of grey.
“Maybe it’s plastic,” Daniel shrugged with a shrug.
“And I thought the Christmas spirit couldn’t get any cheerier,” Barbara remarked. Daniel smiled and began to go on his way again, when an evil idea came to Barbara’s head. She would finish setting up the program to help protect the SGC servers from cyberattacks, and then she would go find Vala and tell her about the mistletoe in the hallway. Barbara found her and Daniel’s dance around each other hysterical, partly because it reminded her so much of Bruce and Sellina, without all the secret identity angst. Smiling brightly at the thought of Vala trying to herd Daniel towards the mistletoe whenever she could, Barbara continued on her way, humming “It Must Have Been the Mistletoe” under her breath.
