Claudia stood rooted to the spot where she stood, glaring at the greenery above her. Of all the artifacts in the warehouse, Claudia could not understand why, in the name of all that is holy, Macpherson had taken the original mistletoe. Really, was the man that desperate to get some action that he took this? Shaking her head, Claudia tried to get rid of that thought. It was wrong on way too many levels to process right now.
She, Pete, and Myka were in London, chasing after some rogue artifacts, as well as trying to dig up what they could about HG Wells. It had been a week since the woman had been de-bronzed, and it was as if she had vanished without a trace. Pete and Myka had gotten a whiff on one of the other artifacts, leaving Claudia to handle this one on her own. It had been going great... until she had forgotten to look up and had passed under the mistletoe by accident.
“The irony of this situation is going to kill me,” Claudia muttered, thinking of the major amounts of UST between the two other warehouse agents. Seriously, it should be them under this thing, not her. “I didn’t mean take it literally,” she added hastily, the unintentional seriousness of her present situation coming back to her. She was stuck here, in this rather secluded alleyway, until somebody had the dumb enough luck to end up under the mistletoe with her. Ho, ho, ho. It looks like Christmas was coming early this year.
The sound of running footsteps reached her ears, and Claudia turned to face the noise. A tall, skinny man wearing a tweed jacket and a bow-tie, followed by a man and a woman tore through the other end of the alley. The man in the tweed, looking behind him, didn’t notice Claudia until he almost ran into her.
“So sorry...” he began apologizing, before the artifact took hold of him, and he grabbed Claudia and kissed her hard on the mouth before she could even process what was going on. There was no tongue, thank god, and the moment Claudia felt the artifact loosen its hold from her, she shoved him away.
“Thanks for the kiss,” she told him, backing up and grabbing the bag she had dropped earlier. “Now just go back the way you came.” He took a step back and stared at her as his two companions moved forward to join him.
“What just happened, Doctor? Why did you just kiss her?” the woman asked, as Claudia grabbed her collecting bag and carefully began climbing the tree to get to the mistletoe.
“I have no idea, Amy,” the Doctor replied quietly, watching the young woman’s progress. “But I have a feeling we’re about to find out.”
