Where do I go when I'm not here?

It seems like busy days, but there is that faint glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

On the week-end I finished taping and mudding my new office area in the basement (which means that soon as I move into the space, viridis_ama will have an office, too).  I still have to sand, paint, and put flooring in place, but mudding the entire basement was seemingly like a project that would never end.  Yay, for forward momentum!

Both Boo at the Zoo and Hallow e'en went well.  We didn't have many kids show up for Hallow e'en (about 20 to 25), but the few that showed up did enjoy the pumpkin lights and the owl-pumpkin that I carved.

I accidentally corrupted the database used by Digikam, so I had been with-out my favourite photo-management software for about a week.  The author of Digikam indicated it was an error from a different program, so I seemed to be in sort've a stalemate between "won't fix" and "can't work with photos".

In the end my solution was to back-up the current database and let Digikam create a new one.  The unfortunate side-effect of this is that now none of my RAW photos are tagged anymore.  The fortunate thing is that I had tagged all the JPEGs at the same time, so I can still search for and find the photos.

I'm hoping that the Digikam folks move forward with sidecar files for the RAW images to store the tag information... that would really be beneficial in the future.  But until then (or until I figure out how to salvage the broken database), I guess I re-tag the RAW photos as time permits.  Huzzah.

The rest of the time seems to be work-work-work and working on weird not-so-social-inter-family relationships.

But I'll let that stew for now.

In other news, and completely unrelated, week 3 of my diet seems to be going well.  I think I'm down about 2kg so far... slow but steady.  Huzzah!
