Today's plan was to drive to Roseville, where I could get lab test draws done for my annual medical checkup that will be in a couple of weeks. Sutter Health has no labs in Reno, so Roseville is the nearest lab to which I can get on a Saturday, but the lab does close at Noon. So the plan was for Lisa to start cleaning out the minivan in preparation for packing the rather large amount of stuff (Match Game SF takes up a lot of space) to go to Loscon/Westercon. Today, Lisa and I removed the damaged tire from the Rolling Stone. Lisa plied the tire wrench and I jacked the RV up high enough to remove it. This is the first time that I've ever had to remove one of the tires myself with the jack stored underneath the sofa-bed in the RV.

As we were starting for home on Friday afternoon, convoying because we'd collected the Astro from the latest round of air-conditioning repair (which is still holding as of Sunday, thank goodness), Lisa reported an issue with the Rolling Stone. I was surprised when I was at Pick-N-Pull that they don't keep the wheels. They apparently strip them and sell them off to wholesalers. That's a pity, because that would have been the easiest way to replace the mini-spare with a full-sized spare. Inasmuch as we needed to torque the lug nuts on the tire from yesterday's flat tire adventure, we decided to also determine whether the bay under the rear compartment of the minivan could hold a full-size spare by jacking up the car, removing the tire we put back on yesterday, removing the mini-spare, and trying to crank the full-sized tire into ( Read more... )

The Second Trump Impeachment Trial wound up the prosecution's initial case five hours early, and my Day Jobbe lasted only eight hours today, so Lisa and were going to run to Reno to get the groceries from Raley's that we forgot last week. But there was a hitch in the schedule.
