I'm very much torn between the no-need-to-celebrate-don't-buy-me-anything-it's-just-a-day-like-any-other attitude and the let's-party-buy-me-this-and-this-and-this-please-now-thank-you attitude. I don't know what to do. This is not making things easy for Lynx, either. She's trying so hard to do good by me, but if I don't know what I want, then everything gets all stressy and awful. But now I've eaten a little bit of food, and Lynxie is home, so listen to her and not me. :P
What I really truly want is financial stability, which no one out there can give me, and which I can't even give myself until the paperwork is processed and a steady, well-paying job is acquired.
Aside from that, I've been chomping at the bit for Ikea stuff, specifically Ivar-related things so that I can continue along my merry path of organizing this cluttered-up li'l hobbit hole. An organized home = a healthier mind space for me = happiness all around. Problem is that parts of it are terribly expensive and parts are way cheap:
Ivar Side unit, 30x179cm, $15 (need two, so $30)Ivar shelves, 42x30, $50 for a 5 pack (need two, so $100) Why the fuck are these so damned expensive?? I should really stop keeping old Ikea catalogs; seeing the differences in price from one year to the next is depressing.I have updated my
Things I Want Wishlist, putting things in order of preference. In addition to said wishlist, I made
a booklist post a couple of weeks ago and Lynx asked me last night if I *wanted to have* those books or just *wanted to read* them.
So from that list, here are the books I wouldn't mind owning, in order of preference:
The Brain Chemistry Diet : The Personalized Prescription for Balancing Mood, Relieving Stress, and Conquering Depression, Based on Your Personality Profile by Michael Lesser, MD and Colleen Kapklein Sacred Mirrors, Alex Grey (Gorgeous -- I keep returning to this one for artistic inspiration) Tales of the Seal People, Duncan Williamson (excellent and enchanting.) Folk Medicine in Southern Appalachia, Anthony Cavender (Fascinating!) The Lore of the Unicorn, Odell Shepard (Excellent, helped bring some disparate threads together.) Clothing stuff I will need for the cooler months:
another pair of jeans since I only have one (please note that I do not shop for bargains when jean-hunting. Finding a pair that actually fit is held well above finding a good deal. The last and best pair I got were Buffalos for $50; I'd like another pair.)a good winter coat -- I have one, but it's best suited to skiing or ice skating. I need something that'll keep me warm when I'm walking Kiska or standing at the bus stop, i.e. something long, stylish and warm.snowboots! I don't have any. :(a bum-around sweater: mine is too holey and the one I got from N's mom is hand-knitted (nice!) but doesn't fit quite right (suck). I have been informed that there will be a celebratory bday picnic Friday night, Sept. 16th. For more information, harrass my wife. *g*
