Maybe I should try writing again...
Today I spent a good chunk of time going through my old fanfiction files, spurred by the encouragement of winzler, among others, who remarked on my Tron prompts that they were quite good and I should attempt to fill a few. It made me want to glance at old unfinished fics that might spark some inspiration in my muse-less head, and I think I'll try my hand at getting back into writing on a few of them. I don't want to start anything new though. Any recommendations?
- the third chapter in the saga of Redux: The Key of Time, formerly Project Gallifrey (Part 1) (Part 2) has been on-hold for YEARS now, in the absence of a beta who can help me write proper Ten-ranting-at-badguys speech. I should really finish it, at least to say "hey, this is done, I wash my hands of this series, and anyone who wants to adopt it is welcome!" I don't have the drive to finish all the stories I had in mind for this Key to Time reboot, but the plot ideas are still there.
- The Shift series, in which the Tenth Doctor is the Third Master and is traveling with Martha Jones, is up to three segments/chapters posted by now, but I have nothing further written or plotted out. I think I may put this up for adoption.
- A Different Sort of Quest's End, a Merlin/Stargate crossover, is another idea that has nothing written or plotted beyond what's been posted, but is one that many have expressed wanting expansion of. Adoptable.
- Likewise with the Psych/Mentalist crossover Red Sky At Morning.
- And with Knight Rebuilt, a Supernatural/Knight Rider crossover.
That takes care of the stuff that's already been posted. Now for the stuff stuck in limbo on my computer.
- A yet-unnamed Early Edition/Highlander crossover I've been calling Chicago, in which Gary saves Methos' life, and then his head, and Methos finds out where his little Immortal cat Silas disappears to. (idea borrowed from Snowleopard's awesome Armed Intervention series). I only have the prologue of this written, pretty much, and lost steam.
- A Five Times Sentinel crossover fic, also unnamed, in which Blair and Jim read mail from five persons who send their support in the aftermath of the Dissertation Fiasco. Thusfar, I have a crossover with Due South (Fraser) finished; the other letters would correspond to Psych (Shawn), Stargate (Daniel), Supernatural (Sam and Dean), and Monk. Might post for adoption.
- A Mag7/SPN fic in which the 7 are hunters, and are actually 6, until Sam and Dean enlist their help to rid an old west tavern of a ghost by the name of Standish. I have a prologue opening, and two timestamps that aren't fleshed out. I think I might post this for adoption too.
- A long and epic Highlander/Stargate crossover in which Methos is abducted by aliens, looses his memory, becomes a Goa'uld, dies, regains his senses, and gets stranded on a planet until SG-1 comes looking for the Ark of Truth. I put too much work into this one to just let it die, but I'm out of steam for it.
- oh, and a Star Trek Classic/XI fic in which Classic McCoy gets thrown into the XI universe. Only snapshots are written for this one; it's more a glorified plot idea than anything.
I dunno. Just writing everything out is exhausting.
