Kazunari took one last tug of his beer on the bottle and walked back to his study to write some important papers that were needed for the final touches of the restoration of the Ninomiya Industries building. He hunted through the pile of papers on his desk until he found what he was looking for. He began to read through it then he took a pen and signed on all the lines that he had to fill in. He was astonished that he was even able to read the papers until the end and understand what was written on them. He was really having a hard time concentrating these days; now that Satoshi wasn’t there to uplift his boring life.
[READ MORE>>]What Kazunari felt for Satoshi seemed like one of Adelle’s songs that he couldn’t remember the title of. He really liked Satoshi, but when Chinen came to see him that day, he didn’t know what happened to Satoshi’s demeanor. The other one just suddenly changed and he felt that he was caught red handed, doing something wrong. After Satoshi stormed off without saying anything to him, he felt broken: a piece of China that was shattered into bits and pieces.
He was ambivalent about his feelings right now. He knew that what he had for Satoshi was just an infatuation, but through the years that he had know the other - he kept tabs on him through Chinen - he never would have thought that the person that he liked way back in his younger years would still stay the same. From what he knew about Satoshi, even before he met him again, the other was focused and was very attentive to his surroundings and knew what the problems of the others around him, even before they tell him anything. That was what he liked about him: his unpretentiousness.
He sighed as he placed the papers on the corner of his desk and took out an envelope that was already yellowed in age. It smelled like the old books in the libraries, but for him, it was as if he was feeling refreshed as he opened it and took out the pictures inside and gazed at them. All the pictures were of Satoshi from his elementary days, up to his university days. It was all from Chinen, who took the time and effort to give them to him; even without payment. It was all thanks to Chinen that he knew what Satoshi looked like, and it became an advantage to him to save the latter from the burning building.
The night after Satoshi left, he couldn’t sleep a wink; trying to understand what he had done wrong. He felt like he was in a trance trying to cope with what had happened. It felt as if there’s a void inside him that I couldn’t fill. For the past few years, he had only imagined Satoshi lying down on his bed, and now that it had happened already, he felt that he just let it all go in one blink of his eyes. He leaned back on the chair and stretched his legs under the desk, and his arms into the air.
His thoughts went back to the look that Satoshi gave him. He couldn’t sleep in his bed anymore; Satoshi’s presence still haunts him inside his own bedroom. There were times that when he tried to work, he sense his ghost wandering in every hall that he goes to. After twenty minutes, Kazunari bit his full lower lip before he kept the pictures back into the envelope and stood up to take a shower.

Kazunari woke up that morning to find himself sleeping in his own bed. It has been the first time since Satoshi left and he seems to have forgotten why he was sleeping there. He shifted his position and looked at the ceiling with his arm on his forehead. He couldn’t understand what was happening to him; he wanted to run away from himself and chase Satoshi and tell him his real feelings. But, what was he really feeling? What were his true feelings towards Satoshi?
That morning was his realization. When he woke up with his head filled with Satoshi, he became conscious of what his heart was saying all throughout the years. It was as if a string that was tying him down was suddenly cut and he came to realize that what he was feeling towards Satoshi wasn’t just infatuation anymore; that he was in love with him. Upon this understanding, he got up and rushed through his shower, and dashed out to rummage for his car keys. If he wanted Satoshi back into his arms, he had to do every drastic measure that he could. It was his own battle, and he wanted to do what he should alone.
It wasn’t a wonder that he knew where to find Satoshi; it’s just that he didn’t want to scare the other away. Who would think that a certain classmate of his would know where he lived even though they haven’t seen each other for years, right? Especially, since they didn’t have any communications at all. Kazunari cruised along the high way with a particular speed that he didn’t even bother to look at the speedometer. All his mind was occupied with was that he needed to tell Satoshi his feelings, right then and there. Even if he had to drown in the ocean just to show how much he cared, he would.
There isn’t one hesitation in his mind now. As the car sped fast, he felt that he was like a ticking bomb, ready to explode any minute now. His heart throbbed ever so fast; his hands were shaking as the held the steering wheel; his feet were aching to get to solid ground; and his body was like an athlete ready to do anything extreme. He took a few turns as he got out of the high way and a few more minutes, he was there in an open field with a few trees hiding an old, but attractive Japanese-style bungalow. He parked the automobile just right across the huge lawn and got out.
As he closed in on the house, there was an old man sitting in the front porch making an origami. He was, he concluded, Satoshi’s grandfather. The old man wore an outdated grayish kimono. He seemed to be busying himself with the paper and didn’t notice Kazunari approach. When the old man looked up, Kazunari was only inches away from him. A smile was painted in his face as soon as he became aware of the young man before him. He didn’t particularly know who the young man was, but his eyes glistened with curiosity.
“Good morning,” Kazunari greeted, stretching his hand.
The old man just stared at him for a few seconds before he took the hand for a shake. “You must be Satoshi’s friend.”
The remark sounded more of a question than a statement, but Kazunari nodded in response. “Is he around?”
“I imagine he’s still sleeping,” the old man replied. “Would you like me to wake him up?”
Kazunari’s eyes widened. He shook his head and answered, “Is it alright if I came up to his room?”
Kazunari stood there waiting for the old man’s response as he went back to what he was doing. It took about almost three minutes before the old man spoke again, “What are you waiting for? It’s the second door to the right, just through the hall.” He pointed towards the direction and Kazunari followed it with his eyes.
“Thank you,” he said as he went to where Satoshi’s room was.
He turned the doorknob and it was unlocked. He eased open the door quietly as he could and entered it with apprehension. What if Satoshi pushed him away? What if he didn’t want to see him? There were a lot of what ifs in his mind, but he tried to push the questions away from his mind. If there were questions filling him up, he shouldn’t have gone in the first place. So he plucked up his courage and closed the door behind him.

Satoshi woke up to find Kazunari holding his hand, sleeping on the edge of the bed with half of his body lying on it. What was the man doing there was the first question that came in his thoughts. His eyes fluttered, trying to see if what he was seeing wasn’t just an illusion; but it wasn’t. The hand that was holding his was real, and the body that was there was in fact Kazunari’s. His heart skipped before it became normal again. Why is he holding my hand? Satoshi asked himself as he moved ever so slowly; trying to break free from the grasp, but the movement woke the other up.
Kazunari stirred from his sleep and recollected that he wasn’t in his mansion, but in Satoshi’s house. As soon as he saw that Satoshi had woken up, he suddenly forgot his inhibitions and embraced the latter with force, and then he broke into tears. At first, they were just sobs as he tried to put up some reserve, but he couldn’t and he bawled like a child. He muttered incoherent words that Satoshi couldn’t understand, but he continued until he was able to collect himself.
Satoshi’s eyes widened in shock at this revelation. What was he talking about? He’s with Chinen already, but now he’s telling him that he loved him. He didn’t understand what Satoshi was thinking. All he thought about was his best friend, and his best friend’s feelings. What was the reason for me to leave? He asked himself as Kazunari continued to sob. His heart was broken and seeing Kazunari like this was making him suffer. He couldn’t understand the reason for the words that came from Kazunari’s mouth. Wasn’t he in love with Chinen? He asked again. He debated these thoughts as he tried to open his mouth to say something, but he couldn’t. His lips just left a breath of sigh, indicating his relief from what he was thinking.
What did he see in Kazunari’s study? He was now repeating what he had seen in his mind like a recorded video as he tried to comprehend what was happening that time. All these things seemed to be like a code that he had to decipher. Kazunari cried until his tears ran dry and only sobs escaped from his lips. Satoshi waited for the other stop crying, stroking Kazunari’s back unconsciously; trying to calm the other.
His touch was light, as if it was a feather that was softly dabbing every inch of Kazunari’s back. Satoshi stared into nothingness for a long time - the sobbing was the only sound in the room - wondering what to do. Seeing Kazunari like this in front of him, he didn’t know what to put in his mind. He wanted to ask him thousands of questions, but where would he start?
After a while, Kazunari sobered up and was able to stop the tears from flowing. Satoshi left him for a while to get a glass of water for Kazunari. When he came back, he handed him the glass filled with cold water, and the other drank it in one gulp. Silence fell upon them - with only Kazunari’s sniffing sounded - before Satoshi inquired:
“What are you really doing here?” The question sounded so stupid, now that he had spoken it.
After crying, Kazunari looked like a thin white sheet of paper, pale and queasy. His eyes were reddened from crying, but he didn’t look less handsome. His voice was low when he spoke; this time, clearer, “I’m in love with you.”
“How are you in love with me? You’ve only known me - if not this year - for only quite a short period, and that was in elementary!” Satoshi exclaimed incredulously. “I don’t even see that possible.”
He glanced at him with his eyes downcast with shadow, “I asked Chinen to watch you on behalf of me,” he ashamedly admitted, “I knew that he was your best friend and I told him to give me your pictures when you meet. I am sorry for stalking you through Chinen, but it was the only way to keep you near me.”
He recounted all of the events that happened during those times, and Satoshi just kept quiet; listening to his narration:
“When you came to the building, it was a real coincidence and I don’t know if I should thank my mania for fire, as it brought us closer, or not; knowing that if I happen not to see you through the cameras, you’d be gone from my life and I’d be blaming myself all over and over.”
Utterly speechless with everything that the man before him was saying, he just stared at him with his mouth agape. The thought of someone stalking him was uncalled for; it was something that he hadn’t thought would even happen to the likes of him, and now that this person was saying that he had been stalking him ever since elementary was totally absurd. Yes, he was rich and all, but that doesn’t mean he had every right to harass someone, even without them knowing.
After getting himself back from his thoughts, he asked another question, “Who were those two boys with you back then?” He was thinking about the first time Kazunari realized his desire for fire. “Who were they?”
The other stared at him as if the answer was there in front of him already. He looked at him meaningfully as he answered the question still, “They were Chinen and you.”
He couldn’t remember that incident. He couldn’t really recall anything from his younger days, since after the death of his parents. His mind had completely shut off everything that happened after that, and only some memories were left and would be able to recall people around him if he saw them twice or thrice a week; if shorter than that, he wouldn’t remember them. So, that was why he didn’t remember Kazunari, because they were only together for a short period in his younger years.
He should be angry and disappointed, but it was too late for him to feel these feelings, now that Kazunari - his first love - told him that he loved him, too; and that he had watched over him all these years, how could he hate him now? He was still processing the information in his mind when Kazunari reached out to him and held his hands. Kazunari’s eyes were glistening significantly as he leaned in to kiss him.
~~~
Satoshi didn’t know how it came to be like this, but he was under Kazunari as he was being kissed gently. His lips, they tasted sweet like newly picked cherries; then it suddenly occurred to him that his dream wasn’t just a dream, but something that was real. His heart was beating fast as Kazunari slowly went to kiss his neck, nibbling under his ears and on his collarbone. Every sensation was new to him and it was thrilling. He never would have thought that they would come to this point. He felt that it was a lifetime that he had waited for; that all that he was experiencing right now was just right.
The darkness in his heart was gradually being lit by Kazunari’s whole presence. His world was now being filled with colors, that only him was able to give; beautiful like a rainbow. As they took their clothes off one by one, making them pool on the floor just by the edge of the bed, his breath was hitching. Once they were naked, Kazunari took in Satoshi’s body, looking at him top to bottom. Their inhibitions were lost in abandon as Kazunari kissed him deeply, tongue to tongue. He lifted Satoshi up a little as he licked his fingers wet and entered them in Satoshi’s entrance.
After making sure that he had prepared the Satoshi well, he gently eased himself inside him. Satoshi gritted his teeth in the sudden pain, but as Kazunari rocked and thrusted inside him - slowly gathering pace - his lips uttered moans of pleasure. He could feel his erection graze Kazunari’s abdomen and this made him feel sensual even more. Moan after moan escaped his lips in every rocking movement and he wanted to scream, but he had to suppress it, not wanting his grandparents to barge into his room. They were in heat and as perspiration filled the air, along with the smell of sex, Kazunari came inside him, filling him with his juices.
His erection needed attention and Kazunari knew this. As soon as he finished cleaning up after him, he knelt in front of Satoshi and immediately placed the erection in his mouth and bobbed his head to and fro, making Satoshi moan again, breathing out his name in response. He licked the head and used his hands to play with Satoshi’s balls. Within minutes of blowjob, Satoshi came with a muffled scream. Kazunari drank all the juices that spilled from him, and licked his lips afterwards. They were silent for quite some time; letting their sensations settle into their nerves.
Dragging a deep sharp breath, Satoshi uttered words that were so soft; Kazunari barely caught it. “I don’t know how it happened, but in the few days that I stayed with you in your mansion-,” he abruptly stopped when he saw the look on Kazunari’s eyes, “I’m sorry, it was too big, so I called it a mansion. Anyway, I learned how to be someone that I barely even know, and become relaxed in your presence. I gradually fell for your gutsy demeanor and your intelligence captivated me.
“When I saw Chinen just inches away from your face, I felt that I was invading your privacy. I was hurt, thinking that Chinen and you have something deeper and that I was a stranger breaking grounds. I mentally slapped myself for falling for you,” he dropped his gaze and continued, “I just had to leave then, to let my best friend have you.”
Kazunari was amused and he showed it. He laughed out loud as he responded, “I have the right to say that Chinen and I have nothing towards each other. We’re just friends and when you caught us, as you have said so, we were whispering a plan to have you on a date with me!”
If Satoshi knew how to curse, he would have had uttered different kind of profanities, but he didn’t. His grandparents would have killed him if he did. He wanted to bury himself under the sheets and cover his ashamed and reddened face from Kazunari. He didn’t think of any other possibilities at that time; all he had thought was that he was wrong to have thought that something might develop between them. Now that he knew what the real reason was, he hated himself for leaving Kazunari then, shaming himself before his love.
Seeing his face, Kazunari lightly said, “Don’t worry. I was just shocked then and was a little bit confused when you left. I’m here now and I’ll never leave you anymore. I have liked you for a long time, and that likeness made me love you now. I won’t let you go and I’ll love you for the rest of my life.”
From that day on, Satoshi and Kazunari dated normally. They went to amusement parks and rode different rides, won stuffed toys from gaming arcades, had candle lit dinners in various restaurants and in this particular night, they were at a restaurant near Tokyo Tower. As they had their meal, the glow from the tower was visible from where they were sitting. It was one of the most romantic dates they had ever had, in Satoshi’s opinion.
At the same time as they were having dinner, a waiter with a trolley with some desserts came to them and asked if they would like to have a dessert. Satoshi insisted that he didn’t want one, but Kazunari thanked the waiter as he was handed a chocolate mousse cupcake. It was intended for one person only and Kazunari said that Satoshi should have it instead.
“I told you, I don’t want a dessert today. I’m looking for my figure, now that you’re giving me too much to eat; I’m getting rounder and rounder every day!” He sounded like a woman, but what he had said was a fact; he was getting bigger and he didn’t know how to decline from such delectable treats Kazunari was giving him in every date they have.
“I don’t really care if you get fat. Just take this sweet from me,” Kazunari sounded a little impatient and Satoshi was already getting used to it. However, he didn’t want to sound as if he hated all the things his lover was giving him, so he accepted it and took a few bites from it before he bit something hard.
He took the hard object from his mouth and looked at it intently. It was in a form of a ring and then he suddenly concluded that it wasn’t just a shape of a ring, it was in fact a shiny gold ring. He looked up to Kazunari, but the latter was nowhere to be found, then when he looked down, his lover was down on one knee. Is he proposing to me? Satoshi thought in bewilderment.
“Will you marry me, Satoshi?”
All of the people in the restaurant had their eyes on them, as if they were the center of attention. The band that was playing a sweet song on the stage suddenly played the bridal march. Satoshi was thunderstruck, and tears fell from his eyes as he answered, “Yes!”
The customers applauded and some even whistled as they cheered for the couple. That night was not only one of the best, but it was now the greatest event in Satoshi’s life. And within a half a year, they were married and Chinen was their best man. Their marriage was placed in one corner of the pages of some newspapers and magazines for gaming.
A/N:
And that's it. I'm sorry I had to end it in this chapter. I just hope that the ending will suffice. It wasn't hurried, I just thought that making it longer would drag the story and it would be boring.
For those who waited for this chapter, thank you! For all who commented, thank you. For all my readers in this story, I love you all. ❥
