Have you watched Akira Kurosawa's movie, Dreams?
It was really intrinsic and detailed on how one's dreams affect reality. It's just the same with what we have in our lives.
We refuse to believe in our reality, more often, we try to wish that our dreams will come true. I can't really spell out the movie in detail since you have to watch it to understand what the message really is.
All throughout the movie, I was giddy and excited to watch it. It's the first time I have watched one of his movies and I was really moved by the fantasies in every part.
The most touching part of the movie that I liked was the "Crows". It was really hellish and abandoning. It was not a beautiful sight, but if you're already working, you might understand.
