I'm going to Japan
Yeah. For a week. I'm leaving tomorrow (saturday), hopefully. I say hopefully because my passport hasn't arrived yet. I've been given a FedEx tracking number, and it's probably scheduled to arrive tomorrow after my flight, which is at 6am. My traveling buddy Bret (one of my Triangle brothers) advised me to talk to FedEx and see if they can hold it for me at LAX when it arrives on their mail plane, or rocket sled, or whatever they use.
This trip will be the culmination of a good near-20-years of being a Japanophile. I've been uncannily drawn to that country ever since I was introduced to sushi by my parents at a pretty young age (about 5).
My Japanese is terribly rusty, but I'm bringing some books to review stuff during the long flight. Hopefully enough will come back to me that we'll be able to handle the basics, like ordering food, catching trains, hitting on Japanese schoolgirls, etc.
Bret's bringing his laptop, so I may have internet access throughout the trip. If you guys have any requests for gifts for me to bring back, post them here!
