1. It's poet X.J. Kennedy's birthday. He wasn't born with the X by the way -- he was born Joseph Kennedy, but he didn't want to be associated with the New England politician, so "Joe" added an X to his first submission to the New Yorker, and when they accepted it for publication, he figured the X had brought him luck, so he kept it. I bought Rod Stewart's latest CD, Still the Same . . .Great Rock Classics of Our Time. I'm on my second listening, and I'm loving it, although the end of "I'll Stand By You" goes on far too long.
