How is it you can be meh one week and abso-freakin-lutely amazing the next?

I don't know what to say about the start of season 4, because it was just TOO FULL OF AWESOME!

So, in the last, oh, 24 hours there has been about three feet of snow come down. Seriously. And, of course, today's the day that I (was supposed to) start commuting to work out in the country. Okay, 'For King and Country' was nine kinds of awesome. Here's why:

I am so happy there are shows like 'Castle' and 'Sanctuary' in the world. Shows where, every week, there is lots of humour, character moments, banter, and great relationships (plus a healthy side dose of action). And shows where they're not afraid to make geeky cultural references. Spoilers for the most recent episodes.

Oh, modern culture. You make me so sad at times.

I'm pretty sure I saw this list make the rounds a year or more ago, but it's worth posting if only so I can bemoan the lack of time I have for reading.

And the answer would be: No. Because as much as I love the smell of resolutions in the morning, they tend to go up in flames. On the other hand, over the past few years, I have had some success with making small, reasonable 'resolutions' -- mostly changes which I had been planning on making anyways, like wearing earrings every day. There's a reason med school is pass-fail and you only need a 60%. Because your brain cannot contain the sheer volume of material they heave at you. Seriously. I have never before seen the need for those 3 inch binders. Now, I have a need. A desperate need. Especially as my current state of 'organization' consists of piles on the floor. First off, yay Obama. I think that the switch from a man who comes off as a bumbling, fumbling, Texan cowboy to an erudite, eloquent man is in itself a huge step forward. Add in the fact that Obama's managed to overcome long-standing racial barriers, and the increased voter turnouts in some key populations (youth, black, etc.) and it's a big step ( Read more... )
