We did it!

Here we are at the Museum of London Docklands - ready to do our fan dance!  Under the cut there's a video for anyone interested.....

It was fun to do, but our teacher was a bit irritated because the traditional music for the dance has musical 'cues' for the moves. However this is sung in Mandarin, and as this was a celebration of Hong Kong (where they speak Cantonese even though they are now part of China), they wouldn't allow her to use the original music. She is from Hong Kong (she's lived here for four years), and she was annoyed they were being pedantic as she felt we rushed through it, but I think it was OK.

It was a bit of a difficult journey to get to docklands in London. Normally we would have gone to the railway station and jump on a train, then change to the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) which takes us straight to the Museum of London Docklands (in about an hour). Unfortunately we had to take a replacement bus for the first train journey and roads are so much slower than going by train. We got to the DLR in a very noisy bus with really hard suspension which was incredibly uncomfortable.

We were a tiny bit later than we thought and had enough time to do a couple of run throughs before our performance. One of the people on the stall where you could get your name written in Chinese said they thought we were brilliant and that we had been doing this kind of thing for years which was rather nice.

We had a look around the rest of the exhibits before making out way back which was much quicker and more comfortable.  Now we're relaxing with kitties sleeping on and around us. It sounds like we'll be doing this again with our teacher as she was very pleased with us.

I have today's question: 5. Do you often get the hiccups? If yes, do you have a go-to cure for them?
I wouldn't say I get hiccups often at all - maybe once or twice a year? My cure was taught to me by my Mum - you take a deep breath and while you are holding it you try and swallow three times. The last time is usually incredibly hard to do, but it stops you diaphragm spasming and therefore the hiccups. My grandmother used to call them hiccoughs *g*

The rest of the questions are here.
