Bank Holiday Monday, Sunday..... no, Monday LOL!

It was a good weekend! We got quite a few chores done in the garden including pruning some of the things that needed pruning and cutting back some of the dead stuff and a general tidy up of fallen leaves etc. I can't believe that some plants are already poking their heads up - I have daffodils pushing through the ground, my hellebores and one of the camellias are starting to flower and my Chinese rose is STILL flowering!

I have taken a leaf from curiouswombat's journal where she's been taking a photo a day of the view from her window and her garden I've and decided to join in this year. I'm just going to do my back garden and this will be very useful as I've planted a lot of bulbs this year so I need to be reminded where they are so I can see what works. I've set the camera on a tripod just looking at the back garden from inside the house, so hopefully that will mean I have a steady photo each day and at the end of the year I can make the photos into a .gif.  Or at least that's the plan at 9am each day - let's see how far I get LOL!

Here's today's photo, just as a start and I'll post others occasionally. A dreary day today (cooler at 10C/50 and cloudy) - let's hope I get some nicer photos. If you make it bigger you can see the Chinese rose right at the centre back of the garden. This time of year you can see all the backs of the houses in the road parallel to ours - as the year goes on they slowly disappear as the trees get leaves and we feel more secluded (not that they are very close - our garden is 32.6m/108 feet long and the houses in the distance are another 32m away as their back gardens are just as long).

The only other thing we did over the weekend was to watch all five of the Daniel Craig Bond films - totally worth it as there is a story arc across all of them which wasn't as obvious with the long delays between films. I still can't quite believe that DC made Spectre with a strapped up broken leg, although when you know that you start to notice he does a lot less running in that film!  We enjoyed them as did the cats who loved sitting on our laps as we watched LOL!

Today we've been out for brunch at a local favourite restaurant and we've not much more planned which is as it should be on a bank holiday. Mr Cee is back 'to work' tomorrow (still at home), and our exercise classes start up again this week which will be very welcome. I'm quite pleased I've only put on a couple of pounds over the past two weeks which is a small miracle in itself!

Back to the daily questions:

2. When you are old(er), what do you think children will ask you to tell stories about?
I am old LOL! My children have always asked interesting questions - lately it's been about technology which of course has changed so much since they were tiny!
3. January 3 is Fruitcake Toss Day. Do you like fruitcake? Why does it get such a bad rap?
I did not know about Fruicake Toss Day (where does that come from??? LOL!). I do not like a heavy fruitcake very much. We don't bother with Christmas cake for that reason as none of us are keen.  I don't mind a lighter fruit cake like a Dundee cake which is not so rich, but tbh I'd rather have a mince pie if I want something fruity.
