Boxing Day (or day 279 since lockdown 1)

Dec 26, 2020 17:31

We had a very nice day yesterday all things considered. It did seem almost normal because we had Youngest Cee here, and I've really enjoyed seeing him as it's been too long just Mr Cee and me.  We opened presents about 10.30 which was nice as it meant we could get the lunch all sorted out and the table laid (this is it just before I served lunch):

The eagle eyed amost you might have spotted my gift from Youngest Cee (photo under the cut with an added photo of my gift from Mr Cee (who knows what a geek I am too!).

Baby Yoda!! He makes noises if you push his tummy *loves*/geek

Why yes, it's a silver TARDIS pendant from Mr Cee *g*

Lunch was delicious (if I say so myself!) and we tried a new recipe for carrots - in a saucepan simmered with dry cider, orange juice and a bay leaf until all the liquid has gone. Absolutely yummy!  After lunch the three of us when for a bracing walk of just over a mile and a half to work off some calories. Then we came back to chat to Eldest Cee, and have some Christmas pudding (yummmmmy!).  The rest of the afternoon and evening we spent relaxing and Youngest Cee got sat on by all the cats LOL (the obviously miss him!).

This morning we all slept in a bit which was nice. It's been another relaxing day - we had a lunch of a few leftovers and this afternoon we've had a Zoom get together with Eldest Cee at his flat, and Youngest Cee's GF(P) who is at her Mum's house (so her Mum joined in too). It was a fun afternoon as I found this website in the summer which has loads of quiz categories to go through. They were really good fun - we decided that none of us are very good at geography, although Youngest Cee is pretty amazing at identifying flags, and Eldest Cee surprised us with his knowledge of literature! We are all very good at Harry Potter though! LOL!

This evening Youngest Cee is going back to his flat, but GF(P) is going there too so she's going to call at our house on the way so they can go off together in convoy their cars. It will be nice to see her (socially distanced outside). YC is going to take some of the leftover turkey, some of the delicous cake I won (there's no way we'll be able to finish that on our own!), and some other bits and pieces as a care package. It's been a nice visit and it has almost but not quite been a 'normal' Christmas.

Back to just the two of us again for a while (we'll know what's happening about this full lockdown on Wednesday - I'm not expecting things to change as the numbers have shot up locally - 2342 new cases since last week taking to total 4783 in my Borough *sigh*).

In the meantime today's question is: 26 It’s Thank You Note Day/Boxing Day. Do you write hand-written thank-you notes or do you thank people for gifts in some other way? I thank people in person usually because we only really get gifts from immediate family who are here. I do exchange gifts with a couple of neighbours, but I thank them in person too. In normal times we would have met up for a drink before or after Christmas to do just that....
