sophia_sol who did it AGES ago, I've been dithering about this for a while - and explain why in the meme.

So, hi!
A few months back I saw this voice meme going around and thought "hey, I want to do that!" Especially because my accent is apparently really weird - as many people have correctly guessed I was from Germany as thought I was from Ireland. Really. I have no idea. So I wanted to share the weirdness!
But then I never did. And one of the reasons I didn't do it, I realised, was because even though I stutter I generally sound pretty fluent these days, as you may have noticed. So I was worried that people would go 'oh, no way does ze really stutter.'
Which is really so much bullshit! Because stuttering is more than the overt symptoms and I still have the same speech disorder whether I'm talking like this
[speech therapy speech] or when I'm talking like this
[overt stuttering] or when I'm talking like this.
So I've been gathering up my courage to do this for a while, and finally went "okay, I'm doing this!" after talking with Sciatrix. So here's the meme, please do tell me if you think I sound Irish and if so why.

Where you're from: Germany, but I learned English in the United States - in Connecticut - then moved back to Germany and had seven years of British English as a foreign language classes, then moved to Britain and have been living there for almost seven years, mainly in Scotland.
Now they want me to say the following words: aunt, roof, route, wash, oil, theatre, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, new orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught, orange, coffee, direction, naturally, aluminium and herbs
[at this point I tried to say something about how actually my pronunciation is more variable than you'd expect thanks to the history of my accent and how it's changed, and a lot of these words I might pronounce in several different ways without necessarily realising. Sadly, because this wasn't in the script I end up going um, um, uh a lot and not actually saying what I mean. Oops.]
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house? TPing
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called? soda
What do you call gym shoes? Tennis shoes, I think?
What do you say to address a group of people? There's not really a specific phrase, I'd probably say something like "Hi, everybody" or "Hi, people"
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs? daddy long-legs
What do you call your grandparents? Well, I'd have to say, Oma and Opa
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket? That's a trolley
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining? I'd call that Scotland, to be honest.
Finally - What is the thing you change the TV channel with? That's a remote.
And so hi, I finally got through this all, and, um, you should probably be grateful I decided to give up on trying to fake-stutter on a vowel because I just wasn't getting off them at all and you could have had to listen to two minutes of me going o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-
And on that note I stop.
For those curious: the second example of "or when I'm talking like this" I did was speech therapy speech so hopefully you may have a better idea of what I mean when I say it sounds really unnatural. (people people people I had to speak only like that for over a week and this time period involved calling strangers on the phone or approaching them on the street this ties with clinical depression for most miserable time of my LIFE.)
I'm much more fluent while reading from a script, which is what I was doing for most of that - you can tell where I went off-script by the incoherency! *g* and also the random "hi" at the end, this is an example of my brain doing the "ALL POLITENESS PHRASES ARE THE SAME" thing I think I actually meant to say "bye", or possibly "thanks for listening" *g*. I did have one block apart from during the fake-stuttered speech (by "fake", incidentally, I mean that I induced the blocks intentionally but after that they were real blocks - I remember that this wasn't always the case but whenever I try to fake a block these days it becomes real, oops, which is also why I was having such trouble with the vowels.) It amuses me that 'Kaz' is apparently also a problem word for me, since my RL first name is a word I *always* struggle with pretty badly - apparently my brain accepts 'Kaz' as a valid alternate name.
