Hey there!

Yeah, it's been awhile. Lately all of the mental energy I have available for writing has been reserved for a short story I'm working on to hopefully get published in a compilation the writing workshop I'm going to is going to put out. I have until the end of June, but I know how time flies. But even if I don't make this first compilation, there will be others. And I'm reading a book about writing by Jonathan Dufresne, the author who presides over the writing group (for free!) which is really good so far. I also read Steven King's book on writing, and while it was very enjoyable, I find Dufresne's book has more useful advice and ideas. And I'm not even halfway through!

My work situation for next year is still evolving. One thing I know is it will be a big change from what it's been for the past 10 years. More on that as it develops. And being the chair of Save Greynolds Park continues to be both rewarding and frustrating (more on the rewarding side). The main frustration is with how slowly it's going, and how hard it is to get busy people to come together even for something they are passionate about.

Other stuff, hmm. TMBG finally announced some Florida dates, and once again are skipping the southern end of the state *heavy sigh*. The only feasible one for me would be a festival show at Nerdapalooza in Orlando in October, but I dunno about paying more and making the 4-hour trek up there for a shorter festival set. If they did something special like a signing, that might entice me...

Mom, dad, and kitties are all good. I'm trying to think of something to get my dad for Father's Day. He is seriously the hardest man I know to shop for!

And I guess that's it for now - thanks for reading my none-too-exciting (but hopefully full of promise!) update!

Love,

"Kay"
