Another piece of the puzzle that is my job status for next year has fallen into place. Yesterday I got confirmation that I'll be working at another school next year, making this my last week at Curley. It hasn't quite hit me yet, even though I've known this would probably happen for awhile now. I've been at Curley for ten years, which is a pretty long time. I've been thinking about all of the amazing experiences I've had during these years - the trips to upstate New York, Colorado, D.C., HARVARD, and the many class trips to Disney and Universal. Mostly it's been a joy working with the kids and amazing teachers, who I will miss very much. I'm pretty grateful for it all, and I only hope my next teaching experience will be half as awesome.
I don't know yet which school I will be teaching at next year, or how many hours I get. Hopefully enough to maintain my benefits, but the one class I will be teaching at FIU on Monday from 1-1:50 may make it hard to maintain full time status. I also hope the school I'll be working at isn't too far south, as I live in North Miami, and anyone who has commuted from North to South Miami and back knows it's no picnic.
So that's the latest. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous, but I'm hopeful, too. Now time to focus on writing and enjoying my summer!
Love,
"Kay"
