Zola's new best friend is a house centipede she keeps pawing to keep in her sight, while it ever more feebly tries to wobble away on some of the 7 remaining (of 30 original) legs.

My new boots are AWESOME. They fit really well and are pretty comfortable as cleats go. Points of discomfort are the base of my Achilles' on my right foot and the toe box (surprisingly, on both feet - I have big big toes). I figure a little moleskin, a little babypowder, and some more wearing will get rid of those blister spots. And they're BLUE. They're pretty frickin awesome. Also I need to wear them with my ankle braces, but I figured I'd wear 'em straight first, just socks, just to stretch 'em a little. They're leather on the inside and synthetic on the outside; Zach hopes this means they'll stink less. Oh and one more thing is that the footbed is still stiff - I was going up on the toes in them, but that aggravated the blister spot on my Achilles, but it helped break in the footbed.

Anywho, the fun part is breaking in new shoes, really.

I keep telling Zola that eventually the centipede will sting her, and it will hurt like the bee sting she once got on the inside of her mouth (her poor jowel was soooo swollen), but she insists upon playing with it. I tolerate them, the nastiest looking pest in the world, because they eat crickets, and man, it's fucking annoying to have a cricket infestation (they make a shit ton of noise when they're mating or setting territory). They also eat bed bugs and cockroaches. Seriously folks, they're worth tolerating their disgusting selves for being so helpful in control of other household annoyances. Plus they apparently make good pet-friends.
