So to make up for the fight last night about money and bikes and cars, Mom and I went shopping today. Larchmont was having it's annual sidewalk sale. I got a good deal on a plastic storage thing for Zach's new apartment (old yogurt containers, be gone!)
One of the things we were specifically heading to was the new bookstore in Larchmont, The Voracious Reader.  ZOMG!!!  It's frickin awesome.

Ok, so it's a children's bookstore, but check this: they have a seriously awesome YA fiction section, which includes just about every YA GOOD sci-fi fantasy series EVAH (not just the HP or CoN, but Golden Compass, Dark is Rising, and a couple that I hadn't ever heard of but looked to die for were I again 12 years old).

They also had, and this made my heart really leap, AN ENTIRE SHELF OF QUEER YA BOOKS.  Not just one or two books, but for real, a good selection: about being a queerspawn, about being gay, even a book about a kid who comes out as genderqueer!!!!!

I was also impressed at how they had accessible adult fiction mixed in with the YA fiction, like Curious Incident and such.  The woman who runs it is awesome - they home school their kids, and the reason their sff section is so awesome is because her daughter does the ordering for it.

I love independant book stores, I love kid lit, this place is awesome :)
