So June 25th, decision day re: my old bike, is rapidly drawing near. In response, my brain was like, "must scour CraigsList for a new good used bike!" So thats what I'd been doing for about a day when I came across an ad for a "trex" mountain bike. Thank gd that guy can't spell!
I just got me a nearly-new Trek 820 Singletrack - 16" frame with 26" wheels, cro-molly frame, original gear (shimono components - 24 speed). The bike belonged to this guy's mom, and she rode it like five times. The tires still have the original markings on them, she didn't even ride enough to wear those off. So def less than 100 miles on this thing.
As a bonus, it has a rear-view mirror and bottle holder, plus the guy gave me the bike pump (he had sold all the other bikes, too, and had no use for it). It needs air in the tires and the front brake adjusted, but hell I can do those things! Plus the seat covering is split, but the foam underneath seems fine, plus duct tape will decrease the steal value of the bike (though I will probably be taking the seat with me)
And I paid a mere $150. Oh yeah.
I bought some toys already for the bike... well, toys to make it legal to ride in the City, namely lights and a bell.
:D
