This week I am feeling very lethargic, I know it is my UC, it's kinda bad at the moment. But, I am determined to get through this flare-up without doctors or drugs. My tiredness was so bad that I've done very little. I had been hoping to get to the library at least twice so far this week to work on my classwork, but alas, I am still at home, in my comfy clothes.

I've been loading up on the garlic because of its anti-inflammatory properties. I eat a couple of cloves raw, wrapped in a little bread. Yeah, I'm pretty hardcore. I've been trying to eat other helpful foods too.

Today I decided to make soup, split pea soup, the most un-photogenic soup ever! I had hoped to make it with orange split peas, but those are hard to come by and I wasn't going to head across town to the middle eastern store for them, so I settled on the normal green ones. I made the whole bag so it can last me the rest of the week.

Split Pea Soup

1 bag of split peas, sorted and rinsed
1 medium onion, chopped
1 large or 2 smaller cloves of garlic, crushed
1 tsp sea salt
Few grinds of pepper
1 tsp Mrs. Dash
1 boullion vegetarian vegetable broth
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 small/medium potatoes, cubed
6-8 cups of water

Saute onion and garlic for a few minutes then add 6 cups of water and the split peas. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add cubed potatoes, boullion, salt, pepper, and Mrs. Dash. Saute for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally and check amount of water, split peas will sit on bottom and start to burn. When peas are starting to go mushy, that means it's ready for eating. Pour into a cute bowl or soup mug and enjoy.

I enjoyed my soup while watching a Vincent Price movie, Son of Sinbad. He had a comic role with memorable lines that I can't remember :P

It was odd that I was eating soup when it is a billion degrees outside, but even odder that I decided to take a hot bath. So I scrubbed the tub and hopped in with some lavender salts and just relaxed. I finished it off with a cold shower, how refreshing!
