So things are hectic. I start my online class today and I haven't sat down to read everything I need to yet. I think I will do it tonight. Try and get the kids down early so I have some time. I am babysitting tonight while Amy and Tim go out.
I had an interview for that South Riding Children's Center position today. It went really well and I liked the place and the people, but the job itself totally sucked. She said I would get $10/hr, work from 10:30am-6:30pm (because I need seniority to come in earlier and leave earlier), work every snow day because I am close, only get 7 days off a year (after working there for 6 months), etc, etc. And in some rooms you still have to diaper changes and junk. That is just not worth 10 bucks an hour. They said they would call Friday to let me know. They ended up calling me this afternoon. I got the vibe that they liked me. It felt odd to turn them down and the woman on the phone sounded very surprised and a little upset. I am just tired of working crappy jobs for low pay.
The next substitute orientation isn't until Sept. 21st and then I need paperwork and fingerprinting done so that's another week probably. Amy said is was okay because she needed my help through Sept. anyway. And with the subbing I can pick when I want to work or do class work, and get paid $14/hr or 108/day which is much better. The only thing that was holding me back was the fact that it didn't have health insurance, but I got that through Kristin so now I am good to go!
My apartment is looking good. It really is an awesome place to live. The guy from the softball team got back to me and it looks like all is ago. I will finally get to play again. It is a co-ed league of people my age and we play on Monday nights, sometimes late, sometimes early. I think it will be fun but I really have to get back into playing shape and visiting the batting cages soon.
This weekend Amy's family, my mom and dad, and I are going to Jamestown and Greatwolf Lodge (which looks so COOL!! Indoor waterpark!) The Jamestown visit will be good because for this history class I have to do a site visit for a paper so I will have that out of the way already.
My vacation last week at Mike and Quianna's was great! I finished the first season of Lost and I have started the second, updated my Blockbuster card, slept, watched some movies. Mike took Friday off to hang out with me and we went to the pool and that night went to see Super Bad which was hilarious. Saturday Mike gave me my birthday/graduation present which was a cruise on the Chesapeake to St. Michaels, MD. We ate some awesome seafood (my shrimp where the size of golfballs!), walked around and the cruise was beautiful. I had a great time and it was a very thoughtful present. Sunday Mike's parents had a cookout for us and our friends and his brother and his friends. That was cool too.
My speeding ticket court went GREAT. The cop had like 50 people on the list contesting tickets so I thought he would def. show up. He called out sick and everyone who was there got their case dismissed entirely! It's like I never got the ticket at all! I am so relieved and glad that I don't have to pay $200 (ticket + court costs, isn't that INSANE???)
Tomorrow is the info session at George Mason about the teaching program. I will get to meet some of the people involved and get a better idea of what is going on. I'll let you know how it goes.
