Sunday, July 23rd:
gnfnrf,
beltramgregor, and I helped
mcghiever anchor the screens covering the vents into his attic. He'd had a mouse in recently, and didn't want any more.
beltramgregor suggested duct tape would look best with the house, but
gnfnrf and I both thought he should use a staple gun instead. I offered that he could borrow mine.
Lounging downstairs in my bathrobe, or maybe just a towel, I was surprised when
gunn and two other female acquaintances arrived, chatting happily. They realized they'd all just finished reading the same book, and were about to discuss it. They invited me to join them, but, as always, I hadn't done the reading. (I'm only halfway through the previous book.)
gunn gave me a mildly disappointed look. I desperately wanted to join in, but knew I couldn't, so I went upstairs.
I noticed I still had three of her books on loan, and thought I should return them, when I noticed I'd never even looked at the third before. It was called "20 Stones"; it seemed to be a collection of two-page essays.
