General update-y-ness

I haven't posted on here in a while… nope. Why is that? Let me see… had about 6 weeks of complete and utter mentalness at work, followed by some time off. I went to Download in the middle of all that madness which was fucking awesome, saw some absolutely quality performances, in fact in terms of quality, the best festival I've ever been to… Tool, Alice in Chains, Metallica, Dredg, Opeth…. To name the ones I saw!! It was 30 degrees that weekend and we all roasted. It was great. Shame the weather's gone shit again. Hardly a surprise though. Then July happened... Had some time off... and some gigs... And now it's August. Mid August. WHA? HOW? WHERE?

I am suffering from boredom-induced insanity as my job is pretty rubbish at the moment, days dragging on longer and longer, very very very bored. The students have resit exams next week though and then enrolments in September so we'll be mental from next week till mid-October which is nice, followed by a period of about 6 months of absolutely nothing. Working in a university has its up sides, but a nice consistent workload isn't one of them like. It's okay though, I am taking a week or so off at the end of November to go round the country watching TOOL on their UK tour, which includes spending 3 days in Dublin getting wasted and 2 days in London doing cool London-y things, which it has been a long time since I have done. As well as quick trips to Glasgow and Nottingham. Good stuff. So I can look forward to that which is coool.

AND the mighty WATFORD are back in the Premiership, our season kicks off this Saturday away to Everton, very excited I am about it, top flight football for the Golden Boys and their incomparable leader, Aidy Boothroyd (do do, do do do). Bring it on.

I was in Watford last weekend for a family gathering, I was quite honoured as it was sort of for me, as I barely see anyone anymore living so far away. And we had a mighty fine time eating, drinking and catching up. And my cousin is pregnant which is so exciting, bit scary too as she's only 2 months older than me, but it's cool. I asked questions about baby names and cravings and all the things you're meant to ask. Even though she's only 3 months pregnant but I figure that's far enough along for cravings right? Wrong, apparently. What the fuck do I know about babies anyway. They are scary little creatures who rely on you for everything. I get broody now and then but it doesn't last. I will be an old mother I fear.

And that is all for now. I think. Oh, we might be buying a band van - Katy's car has broken down and we need a large vehicle as we are expanding the amount of equipment we own and travelling to gigs was becoming a nightmare. On top of the laptop I have just ordered (less than half price I might add), my new bass amp (lovely) and effects board (funky), numerous sets of Tool tickets and related transport and accommodation, and generally owning a house, the funds are starting to run through my fingers like sand. I was doing so well too. Oh well, it's only money. And it's not like Christmas will be at the end of all this mass of expense is it. Nooo.

Enough already. It's time to go back to staring at the screen or suchlike. 40 minutes till hometime and counting...

PS We are thinking of going for a band name change - well, it's almost certainly on the cards. Anyone got any thoughts? We feel like Closed Quarter just isn't punchy enough, and it's a bit difficult to say right (in a weird way). We are almost all keen on.. Myriad Eye… what does anyone think?
