In York Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, one hundred years ago today, was born a little girl - Eileen Bridget Morrissey.
She became the marvellous woman who brought me up, my grandmother. Without her unstinting love and affection and care I would not be the strong and confident woman I am today. She gave me what is so precious to all of us, a sense and knowledge that we are loved and lovable. Only the other week she cupped my face in her two little old hands and said: "I adore you darling."
The whole family (with the exception of my married daughter in the States) is taking the day off work and spending it with her. She is nearly blind and very deaf and very frail these days, but apart from that she enjoys very good health. Long may she continue to do so.
Bless you Nana. Happy Birthday.
