Thank you darling - she had a great day. In fact, we all did. And she got her card from the Queen - signed Elizabeth R, although that did not mean as much to her as the card from the President of Ireland. She has been truly honoured, bless her.
It was absolutely wonderful. Someone from the papers to take her photo - he handed her a glass of champagne to hold for the photo and she said "Cheers!" and downed it in one before he could click his camera. She's a real character. We all had a great day.
What a joyous post. I can feel the love all the way across the ocean! Thank you for sharing this, it has greatly lifted my spirits. Happy Birthday Nana!
Thank you - we all had a fantastic day. She had over forty cards and her room was full of flowers. Someone from the papers came to take her photo - we handed her a glass of champagne to hold for the photo and she said "Cheers!" and downed it in one before he could click his camera. She's a real character. And she got a card from the Queen, which was thrilling.
May she take in the love and, yes, adoration all around her on this special day. I wonder, as I get older and as I see those ahead of me getting older still, whether perhaps, as Shakespeare said, in some ways we grow younger as we grow older, and we increasingly need that precious gift she gave to you -- the sense of being loved and lovable.
Thank you Avus, she had a splendid day - over forty cards and her room was full of flowers. Someone from the papers came to take her picture - we handed her a glass of champagne to hold for the photo and she said "Cheers!" and downed it in one before he could click his camera. She's a real character. And the centenarian greeting card arrived from Buckingham Palace, signed by the Queen, which really good. She got very tired and went to bed early, but everyone carried on celebrating for hours afterwards. Altogether a fantastic day. I haven't forgotten I owe you an e-mail. Look for it shortly.

She's a real character. And she got a card from Buckingham Palace, signed by the Queen, which was thrilling. She looks like she could go on for many years yet. We are so lucky.
