It seems like a pretty major shortcoming, though, doesn't it? They're badass killer robots--unless you lure them into a water park, and then they're useless! --danceswithwords on The Mousetrap

Our regular reality appears to have been swapped for a bad combination of a Beckett play and The Onion. I'm hoping this malfunction can be corrected before my sense of black humor gives out. --stacyking

I could not care less about Wraith existential angst. "What would we do? Who would we be?" I don't care, as long as you're not eating me! I'm shallow and selfish that way. --minnow1212 on First Contact

(Also, now that I'm into this metaphor, I would say that the Winchester brothers are like a line of PC products in that the second version on the market is bigger, bulkier, and clogged up with a million useless warning notices that nobody ever pays attention to. Also, despite its overhyped new operating system, the second version is actually infinitely less stable than its predecessor - and that's saying something!) --merryish

Just to be clear: the purpose of asking for receipts isn't to check up on donations, no one has ever tried anything because you're all awesome, as we've scientifically proven.

(Well, I do check, but thats just because the differing amounts in currencies can make things complex, or sometimes math goes weird with lots of bids to donate for. And I'm OCD that way.)

The reason I ask for receipts is so that when I contact a charity I can tell them specifically which donations made were from the auction and they know when I give them a final total, it's accurate, so they can write me a letter with the figure in at and I can show that to you guys and you'll know my Hawaii fund remains sadly empty and devoid of purpose.

Cheer up, emo Hawaii fund. --halcyon_shift on Sweet Charity

Song on the End of the World

On the day the world ends
A bee circles a clover,
A Fisherman mends a glimmering net.
Happy porpoises jump in the sea,
By the rainspout young sparrows are playing
And the snake is gold-skinned as it it should always be.

On the day the world ends
Women walk through fields under their umbrellas
A drunkard grows sleepy at the edge of a lawn,
Vegetable peddlers shout in the street
And a yellow-sailed boat comes nearer the island,
The voice of a violin lasts in the air
And leads into a starry night.

And those who expected lightning and thunder
Are disappointed.
And those who expected signs and archangels' trumps
Do not believe it is happening now.
As long as the sun and the moon are above,
As long as the bumblebee visits a rose
As long as rosy infants are born
No one believes it is happening now.

Only a white-haired old man, who would be a prophet,
Yet is not a prophet, for he's much too busy,
Repeats while he binds his tomatoes:
No other end of the world there will be,
No other end of the world there will be.

I think I identify with them mostly because they're spazzy and frequently lost, just like me. --kungfupolarbear on penguins

Wakefield was Wakefield, which, it appeals to my Puritan sense of equanimity that sometimes he will be lights out and sometimes he will be a home-run derby. He is like riding the bus: you just have to sit tight and wait, and maybe you will get to work on time and maybe you won't but there isn't anything you can do about it once you've embarked. --veejane

SGA has fantastic effects, but man, the costumes at times...........and that poor village, it never gets any peace. --nel_ani
