Fun with parallels that TOTALLY DON'T WORK

So I'm thinking about James Ellison and Sarah Connor and Biblical dreams, as you do, and once I got past a couple of deeply unfortunate Google hits (yes, http://www.dreams-online.com.au/bible.htm, I'm talking to you, with your creepy blinking eyes and weird background colors why do people do that sort of thing, never mind) I found someone who listed off a few of them. Clicked over to the dream of Abimelech, in Genesis Chapter 20, and there's this whole thing with a Sarah that is hilariously inappropriate because in this bit of the story Sarah doesn't do anything; King Abimelech, not knowing she's actually Abraham's wife rather than his sister, takes her to be his wife (but doesn't lay a finger on her!) and then, after a scolding dream from God, gives her back to Abraham.

I thought about Sarah being given back and forth like that for about a second, and then I laughed for a while, and now I'm moving on. Though I may go back through the Sarah section of Genesis. I do enjoy that she gets to talk back to God.

(Oh, hey, Abraham got a bunch of livestock out of the deal, too. And a thousand pieces of silver! Lucky Abraham! Abimelech tells Sarah that her reputation is totally salvaged now, but her response to this does not appear to be recorded. I myself find it a little suspicious that "I took this guy's wife and then gave her back along with a bunch of money a few days later" is meant to make it look less like he had sex with her, but maybe it's a cultural thing.)
