Getting a bit behind (Day 266 since Lockdown 1)

Dec 13, 2020 15:56

I'm getting a bit behind with the meme so without more ado.

8 What is your morning routine like?

Our alarm is set for 6.57 so we wake up to the Radio 4 weather forecast and then the news headlines, which we listen to with increasing gloom. The radio then gets switched off and J goes and makes cups of tea which we drink in bed while I look at my iPad and he checks his phone. Then we get up, wash, take medication, have breakfast and face the day.

9 What is your evening routine like?

Depending on who is doing the cooking we eat between 7 and 7.30pm, wash up, have coffee, a snack that counts as pudding, then watch some telly. We sometimes check the news headlines at 10pm but generally it is too depressing. J usually goes to bed a bit before I do to read as we can't read in the same room together (apparently I'm too disturbing). I might read a bit, come up and look at the desktop then I go to bed too, usually before 11.15pm. J has usually finished reading by that time but I listen to an audiobook for a while after we have turned the lights out. At the moment I am about to finish A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute, which I thought I'd read, but it turns out I haven't. While parts of it are very good, there are some distinctly slow parts and I have been finding the unconscious racism really quite disturbing.

10 Of the four personality temperaments based on the ancient Greek humors-sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric, and melancholic, which one best describes you?

Phlegmatic I think.

11 If you could live in any TV show, which one would you choose?

I would rather like to live in the Antiques Road Trip so I could travel around the country visiting nice places and looking at nice things. As I don't know a thing about antiques I would probably lose all my money very quickly but it would be fun.

12 What’s your favorite holiday cookie? (Post the recipe?)

I am extremely fond of Stollen bites but I don't have a recipe for them.

13 What is something you’ve done that no one would expect of you?

It probably depends on what stage of my life people know me from. I suppose one of the most unusual things I've done is sleep in a hammock on an early 19th century warship as part of a sailing course. I am hopeless at sailing but the course was fun, particularly the experience of sleeping in a hammock, which was very comfortable.

The rest of the December questions are behind the cut.

14 If 2021 could see you moving to another city, where would you go?
15 What’s the best thing to do on a snowy day?
16 Are there any foods you are allergic to?
17 What was the biggest change in your life in 2020?
18 What is your favorite local restaurant where you live? What type of food, atmosphere, and prices does this place have?
19 Have you ever been told you look like someone famous?
20 What TV game show would you be really good at?
21 At the solstice, as the light begins to return, what would you like to see increase in your life over the next few months?
22 Are you a “peeker” about gifts, or do you prefer to be surprised?
23 Do you think you will be making any New Year’s resolutions in January?
24 Do you prefer to receive money/gift cards or an actual gift?
25 If you could receive a $1000 gift card from any store, which would you choose?
26 It’s Thank You Note Day/Boxing Day. Do you write hand-written thank-you notes or do you thank people for gifts in some other way?
27 No matter what holidays you do (or do not) celebrate, do you have a good recipe for leftovers? Post it!
28 Do you usually make a special effort to thank someone who does you a favor? How do you react when you aren't thanked for going out of your way for someone?
29 Would you rather your life have a rewind button or a pause button?
30 If you could change one bad habit you have, what would it be?
31 Do you prefer beginnings or endings?
