Glow-in-the-dark cat could help cut disease

Yet another 21st century moment, because it isn't just a glowing cat, it's a glowing cloned cat.

This is, in fact, useful research*.

And an undeniably odd userpic for posts like this very one.

* Many years ago I had a summer internship where I worked on glow-in-the-dark bacteria that had the luciferase gene added.  Researchers were using luciferase as a test gene in plants: you could test for the glow to see if genes of interest+luciferase were properly inserted into the plant.  This new research is similar, except it's better. Kittens are cuter than tomatoes.
