Well we turned the clocks back and hour. Daylight Savings Time. It gets darker earlier than 6 pm (some say 4:30 I have only seen it happen once or twice). It means sun rise is back at 6:30 in the morning instead of 7 as it has been for the last couple of weeks. It means it will still be dark when I get up to feed the kitties.
Every year this event occurs or when we turn the clocks ahead reports come out saying that we may not have to do it any longer. I have yet to see it actually be done. There was a report this week indicating Massachusetts was not going to turn their clocks. A co-worker asked how is that going to work. The only reference point I could make is Texas. Part of the state is in one time zone and the other part is in the other. If it is no longer needed then I wouldn’t be opposed to not changing.
So this morning I spent most of it at church for the coffee and to sell tickets for the auction dinner. No one bought them from me until much later. Actually the woman will pay me hopefully at our meeting. It was also the Knights of St Maria membership drive for the men folk. Not sure if they had much success.
After that I went to Sis’s house. She was on her way to a memorial service for a friend’s sister. So I made a bathroom run and had coffee and chatted with Nelson. Then it was time for me to go to the Nursing home.
My time at the nursing home was a tad long but it was fun. Chatted with Natalie who told me Christina from our girls club did contact her. That’s good because I don’t know what else I will be doing. Max from FP was awesome. We shared the number calling and I did most of the games. Not sure how many we had probably 15 or 20.
After that I headed to Headquarters. I met several of my fellow Dems and saw the one woman I was anxious to see. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro. She was wearing her signature purple and when she saw me we hugged. We talked about the flowers. She loved them and I pleased she liked the purple vase. Once we got started she was third speaker and she congratulated us on the job we were doing and the importance of continuing to make changes. She then mentioned the horrible event in Texas that occurred. We were shocked. After she praised every one there it was time for her to move on. After a few more speeches it was over and I headed home (after I said hello to those I hadn’t seen in a while).
Sky was close to the door when I came home and I don’t know where tiger was at first. Actually she was sitting on a pile of my dirty clothes. Something she hasn’t done in a while. I gave them kibble and they have been doing a variety of things. At one point after I had long had my dinner and I was watching TV Sky was walking around and vocalizing. More than once he came to me and we literally cuddled. He usually jumps up to the cushion above my head and sleeps.
Since I have been home I had dinner and had a couple of Ladies Guild related phone calls. One of them I have to send a copy of a check to Membership chairman because she doesn’t have any record of me paying. So now I have to print it out tomorrow and mail it to her. Then I got call from another member wanting tickets. I can bring them on Tuesday.
I have done some laundry and emptied the dishwasher, and watched TV. Shawshank Redemption is just ending. I have seen it a few times over the years but like always not all the way through or missed huge chunks of it.
I keep avoiding thinking about the 28 people dead in Texas. It was on the news and CNN carried it live on their website. While all the other networks will wait until tomorrow (ABC didn’t they covered it at 6:30). Investigators are doing what they have to…investigate. So far he isn’t linked to any terrorism but this is an act of Terrorism. It was a small town outside of San Antonio. In a church of all places. It shouldn’t surprise me. Back in the sixty’s. People were killed in the south in churches weren’t they? I am pretty sure by morning we will find out more about the guy who did it (yeah he is dead). Those I know are not near there. I am saddened this is happening. I wish it would stop.
So what is on the docket this week? Two meetings, election (won’t be able to go to the Headquarters), the rest of the week should be quiet. OH and I will be calling three of the places Jim suggested I call for the Thanksgiving meal.
The weather is supposed to be rainy for the first couple of days this week and partially sunny to sunny for the rest with temps in the 40 to 50 range. I think now it’s going to get colder again.
Well it’s getting late now and I need to get to bed. Sky is readjusting himself on the cushioned chair and Tiger is ambling around somewhere. She was under the coffee table.
