Dear Friends:
Well today was a day of volunteerism. Mom got up at the crack of down (5:30-6) and got ready for her morning of Folks on Spokes to benefit Bridges Community. They have been doing it for 21 years now. She left after I fell asleep and was back home by 11. It was quite a huge success. I believe she was quite impressed by the turnout.
While Mom did that I was at the nursing home running my bingo games. I got there fairly early with my DD breakfast in hand. I started to get the key from the nursing supervisor then ran into Bob M. He had recently returned to the Recreation therapy department after a three year absence. He hasn’t really changed much. We had a full house and played for an entire hour (happily I started a tad earlier than usual). I brought Bob up to speed with my family and he reciprocated. We said goodbye to each before he left for his activities upstairs.
After the bingo games I headed to Stop and Shop near the mall to meet up with the Woman’s Club and girls club to sell the Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets I spoke of on Wednesday. The turnout for the members was rather low despite the number of people who signed up. That caused us to clear out shortly after 1. We were supposed to be there until 3. I was only going to stay until 1 anyway but this is an issue that has been plaguing the clubs for a while now. I even mentioned to Telka that in the future I will not be asking the girls to help out with bingo. They usually end up disappointing me in some way.
I did take the opportunity to mention to Telka about the wonderful Blog from GFWC Madison Valley Woman's Club in Montana. I sent her the link to their club and maybe we can start corresponding with them. I also share with her the news that our own state organization is having membership issues. The state President is looking for suggestions and ways of promoting and information.
I had gotten home sometime after 1. Mom had been on the phone talking with Jim. I did hear my name come up as “lusting after some car” that drove by us yesterday. She was basically discussing financial stuff for the house and future. He apparently made suggestions about getting cars. I really don’t want one right now. The Honda is in pretty good shape.
I spent most of the afternoon vegetating out. I had lunch and was watching Sherlock on PBS. I can’t believe I actually sat through most of it. It was pretty good. Now I have the NCIS marathon on in the background.
Mom did some work and then went shopping to Costco. I am just awaiting her return. It feels like she has been gone a long time but it has only been an hour now.
My ankle has been giving me a pain. If I move it a certain way or turn on it in anyway it feels like its going to snap. So I am favoring it a little right now. I may stay off of it for the rest of the night as much as possible.
Well Mom is home from the store so I will close out and help her with stuff. Have a great night
Kate
