Stolen from Lanna_Kitty:

"Name your 15 absolute favorite couples (het/slash/canon/fanon) and ask people to see what trends they notice about your couples. Try to pick different fandoms."

Okay, no way am I going to manage 15 different fandoms, but I can do several. Have fun picking apart how twisted favoring some of these makes me. There are actually ( Read more... )

Lol, okay, I'll go for the obvious:
Harry/Murphy + Booth/Brennan + Castle/Beckett= you like the male/female partners in crime-type shows.

And it's a plus if one of the partners was previously from a sci-fi show? Booth- Angel, Castle- Firefly. Harry's a wizard [lol] so that's enough.

Nice meme, might have to snurch it from you!

snurch away :)

Actually the "fellow crime solver" thing hadn't even occured to me. I saw six common threads running through many of these ship but that honestly wasn't one of them. Although, looking back over them, maybe I do need to add a 7th theme because "righting wrongs together" definitely applies to many of them as well as the others I saw.

For the record, hated Angel and hadn't realized until you mentioned it that Castle was Mal *is pitiful like that*

Well, I feel proud at seeing something you'd missed! Go, me...!

Lol, I gave Angel a go after falling for Booth in Bones [*snort* the euphemism was unintentional, lol] but yeah, not my cup of tea. And OMG, everyone on my flist kept squeeing about how they were in love with Castle because of Mal- and you didn't know?! *g* I feel better about some of the blanks in my knowledge now... *squishes*

*hug* Caught some eps of Firefly and it was cute and all, but I really love Nathion Filion in Castle. I think it's the fact that he not only cares about Beckett enough to put their relationship on the line like he did to try to help her, but it's REALLY nice to see a well-adjusted, independent adult character on TV who has a strong, loving relationship with both his child AND his parent

Angel, honestly, always struck me as a rather pervy guy, courtesy of the whole "i'm over 200 yet willing to fuck an underaged female" thing, so he was hard to be enthusiastic about even before you factor in the fact that "reluctant vampire" has honestly been done to death

let me know if you want my actual justifications, because i know I was surprised by all the commonalities

and, definitely, good for you, catching something i missed :) guess self-examination only goes so far, lol

Ooh, that's quite interesting. People keep telling me I need to watch it for the ship, but I like the sound of a guy with a GOOD relationship with his offspring and parent! I am so sick of all the dysfunctional relationships, the resentment and useless whining and ALL OF IT, ARGH, BEGONE. If it's not fun for the character, it's worse for us viewers having to sit through it, omg. So yay, another plus for Castle.

the whole "i'm over 200 yet willing to fuck an underaged female" thing

Lol. LOOOOL. I hadn't even thought of that. [I find the whole Edward 'I'm a 104 year old virgin, please don't try and jump me, I'm fragile' thing with Bella in Twilight way more hilarious, though]

let me know if you want my actual justifications, because i know I was surprised by all the commonalities

Sure, hit me. :D

I've only seen a few eps on Castle (started watching on a friend's rec) but the thing that struck me was that he's a regular guy with REAL family relationships. He loves his daughter to death but isn't insanely possessive/protective the way some TV dads are, or ridiculously liberal with her, either. When she goes to the prom, he's worried and ready to freak the shit out of her boyfriend to keep her safe, but allows himself to be convinced to let it slide and just act like a normal dad doing the "take care of my baby" thing and trusting his daughter to be responsible. And he loves and respects his mother even if there are occassional moments of eye-rolling (which of us hasn't felt that way about a parent at times?) but there's very real love and respect and, most importantly, a willingness to take her advice (which i don't think i've EVER seen on TV) ... and his relationship with Beckett is to a point where it's "if you dig in to my past we are FINISHED" but he knows it might help her heal so he digs anyways ( ... )

*quivers with curiosity* Ooh... she has a past? Tell me? *hopeful eyes* I love spoilers...

'k, this show's sounding more and more awesome. Usually I get sick of the characters' families and how irritating they are but wow, these dynamics sound fantastic!

It's kinda funny how it's often daughters onscreen in the contemporary shows...Shark, Sanctuary [omg, I get to watch it this week!], Lie to Me and this one...there aren't many sons in comparison, at least, not on the shows I watch.

Lmao, yep, apparently so. There was nobody else in the century since he became a vampire that he wanted before the incredibly tasty and sweet-smelling Bella.

Giles! Giles is King Uther in Merlin, omg, I LOVE HIM!
I mean, I love Giles, but I watch Buffy sporadically [saw him beat up on Spike once, dude was fierce! Ordered him to leave Buffy alone like whoa...] and he's just so scary awesome as the ( ... )

The past thing isn’t so much her past. Her mother was murdered when she was a kid and, from the things she’s willing to admit about it, Castle knows something isn’t adding up. And he knows if still haunts her, so he decided to dig on his own. I don’t know WHY, exactly (have only seen 2 eps, to be honest) but she told him in no uncertain terms that she would never talk to him again if he looked into things on his own. She may just feel it’s too personal to share but I’m relatively sure there’s more to it than that because everything Castle dug up points to organized crime ( ... )
