And I really should update this more... mostly when it seems all I'm doing is posting depressing things...
So, everyone loved the cinnamon buns, even though I wasn't that sure that they came out well.
I also spent WAAAAAAAY too much money trying to get everything baked and sent out to people as well. It was worth it, yes, but... well, yeah.
The past couple weeks have been amazing, to be honest.
Christmas went really well, and I got to spend time with all of my friends and family for once. Yes, I had to work lots and lots, but I had the time off that I wanted. Two days before Christmas I got to drop off goodies to
ladyoceanstar and family. It was icy as anything out, and if I didn't have to work the next morning, I would have stayed later enjoying the wonderful company. It was great feeling warm and welcome just chatting, petting Tigger, and enjoying the company.
najjon was there in spirit by being txt'd the entire time as well... and it was neat to be "part of the family" for an evening.
Christmas Eve was spent at work, then with
shinvincible and my family. We had a nice dinner, followed by the Christmas Eve service at my church. That was fun, and I played handbells with my mom. Headed back to the apartment for bed before waking up the next morning to have a full family Christmas morning with Mom, Ken (step-dad), Alex (brother), Uncle Mark, Amy, Andrea (step-sisters), and their two beau's (which I feel horrible for forgeting their names...). Had the tradtional breakfast of eggs, bacon, and mom's Cinnamon Buns. They of course were better than mine, but people were right... I wasn't TOO far off.... :-) We did the whole gift thing, which did depress me a bit since I didn't have money to get people things... but it was all good. I got a gas card from my brother, some cash from my uncle, and a TV from Mom and Ken. All in all a good morning, though my gift is more for Erin than it is for me until we part ways.
I spent the evening with my Dad in Columbus with the other side of my family, which was a little more than strange in all honesty. We went to my Aunt Marianne's house to have dinner, and I saw my cousin Michael and his two kids... who kinda kindnapped me once they realized I was "cool" and worked in a video game store... I helped them set up Rock Band, and showed off a little, and we talked geeky about Legend of Zelda. It was more enjoyable than my Dad and I were thinking it would be.
After getting back to the apartment, it was time with my sisters. Ashley came over, and the three of us spent an enjoyable evening socializing and giving what gifts there were to be had. I took some pictures with my phone and some video of us playing with Boots (the dog). All-in-all I had a good time just sitting under the window enjoying the company.
Of course the next day started a week and 1/2 of hell at work with how busy we were, but it's all good. I survived.... and somehow managed to score both New Years Even and New Years Day off work! I still don't know how that happened! Those were good days, and New Years Eve I spent in Columbus with
shinvincible , Rizerax, Lornac, Honesty, and Sam. (to go by their CoH names for most of them that is). We were quite geeky, and just basically hung out eating pizza, playing trivial pursuit, and watching Iron Man. We had sparkeling grape juice to ring in the new year, and I didn't leave till near 2am.
And throughout all of this was
najjon keeping me company. We've grown quite close, and I can't imagine not having him around via phone and 'net.... 'm also glad we both have Verizon for the unlimited talk an txtin' through it... ::chuckles:: He's been a wonderful friend, and I can't wait until he's back in Ohio again to spend even more time geekin' out about various things, and enjoying each other's company.
Work has finally slowed down, and we're starting to get the place back in-line. I was able to get some cleaning last night, which made me happy to finally get done. I'm hoping to get promoted sometime this year so that I can get a little extra money coming in... that or find a second job. We'll see....
I'm thinking this year is going to be a good year all in all. I've made some quiet goals for myself, and I think I'm starting fairly well with them. Like
ladyoceanstar I'm looking to get in shape again, and I just have to make sure I'm actually using my Wii Fit board, possibly doing some more walking, and when it gets warm again, riding my bike. ((Hey
ladyoceanstar can I join you for your rides down the bike path in the spring?)) ^_^
I think I've written enough for a while now, and we'll see about updating this a bit more frequently... ^_^
