Today the weather finally allowed for a walk. It was cold and a bit windier than I like, but the walk was good for all of us. Ishka doubly enjoyed it because her latest BFF escaped home and joined us for most of the walk, so there was loads of running around, barking, racing, and sniffing. The landscape looked different, too.

Typically, the only water there is the creek, and it's usually a lot lower than right now, but according to the more hardened locals, it has receded quite nicely since yesterday when apparently that whole valley was one single lake.
The lone birch tree is holding up well. Looking at (and walking on) the ground, I'm surprised none of the younger trees were uprooted.

Once we left the bike path to cut across the open field, it was all *squelsh* and *ick*, but omg fun! It's amazing how much fun walking is after your back spent a few days in serious sulk mode. I'm still careful, but now that I managed to do the laundry, a walk, and folding of laundry without suffering, I'm feeling reasonably confident that at least the old back is back to normal. Nose still snotty, but that may be a reflection of the general state of me at the moment.
I've also finally dyed some yarn. I've been desperate to get back to it for a good week now, but I really need at least a couple of hours of decent light, and the weather has been so abysmal here that we've rarely spent an hour without some electric light on, so dyeing was not an option. But yesterday, the sun obliged (thank you!) and peeked out for a couple of hours, and today again. I haven't taken any pics of the second batch, but this was yesterday's result:

It's kind of impossible to capture the true colouring in either full sunlight or under electric light, but I noticed this morning it had a few uneven patches that were unsightly to my eyes, so I overdyed those parts with sunshine yellow. I'll attempt another round of picture taking tomorrow. The second lot contains a bit of violet but is similar to this Phoenix-ish colourway.
The forecast threatens snow next week. I still need to go shopping and, more importantly, to the post office. I foresee adventures in local traveling.
