is the Biden Administration blind to the potential for a 2nd Holiday Surge?

I mentioned the possibility of a 2nd Holiday Surge to Public Health Friend and he shrugged it off! I remember last year at this time he was advising people not to travel for the holidays, using phrases like, "Eat Thanksgiving Dinner with Grandma in November, attend her Zoom funeral in December." I'm seeing many Biden Administration people publicly commending the continuing fall in COVID cases, even though case numbers stopped falling a few weeks ago, and are now moving back up.

Biden and his science advisors were surprised by the Delta Surge over the summer. It sounds like they're going to be surprised by any 2nd Holiday Surge also.

I hope it doesn't happen ... I just don't see any reason why it wouldn't happen. We know the protection from the vaccines fades over time. We know there are communities where people actively frown upon getting vaccinated. We also know the protection from actual COVID infection fades over time. Knowing these things, why wouldn't we continue to have Holiday Surges each year, although perhaps smaller than the first one, when most people had zero immunity at all. And with significantly fewer deaths among the vaccinated/boosted/previously-infected.

Large groups of people socializing near each other indoors without masks for lengthy periods, traveling across the country and mixing up their exposures with various households, then sending their kids to school to mix up with other households, it's why we have seasonal surges of influenza. And immunity to influenza similarly fades over time.

I think there's a strong bias now among both Republicans and Democrats to GET THE FUCK BACK TO NORMAL, with their main difference being whether to get back to normal by vaccinating/boosting people, or by simply returning to normal regardless of vaccination status.

Well, I can't control this by typing in my LJ about it.

Choose your exposure events wisely.
