Kaiser-boy is dead. He was hit by a car on Friday.

He's not waiting when I open the door now. He should be, but he isn't.

Patches, the dog we've had since before I can remember, is going blind and deaf. He's old, ancient in dog years. He's thin as a skeleton, with bald patches in his fur and a cranky disposition.
