Getting married in Kansas City... maybe...
Hello, everyone.
I'm getting married sometime this autumn, and my fiancé and I are thinking about possibly getting married at the Johnson County courthouse since we're going to be pretty short on money. I'm not really too happy about doing it this way, but with all the expenses that we'll be incurring because of the K-1 visa process (he currently lives in Canada), our actual wedding budget would end up being around $800, if that. I don't think we can have a decent wedding with a budget like that around here. However, definitely feel free to prove me wrong!
Ok, onto my question...
What actually happens at a courthouse wedding? Doesn't have to be just at the Johnson County courthouse; I'm interested in hearing about what goes on at any of the other courthouses in the metro area or wherever. Are there vows? Ring ceremony? Photos allowed? Seating room for a few people?
