Servalan and the good old days for women in space

May 03, 2013 11:20

Servalan got a prominent role in a discussion of the changing role of women in science fiction on Woman's Hour today. Featured Christine Cornea and Dean Conrad. General feeling seemed to be that women in televised science fiction not bad, women in films going backwards (it seemed to be sparked off by disappointment with latest Star Trek film, which I haven't seen). But they did notice that, despite some interesting women characters in Doctor Who, there's a shocking dearth of women writers there.

Apparently there was also an item on Gondola, but somehow I managed to miss it. Must try again.
