1. I really don't want to believe that Sam is sleeping with Ruby because that? Is just wrong on many levels. But they do seem to want to give us that idea, don't they?

*nods with you* So very wrong. I could, however, see a scenario where Ruby deliberately did not reveal herself as Ruby until after she'd managed to convince Sam to sleep with her. Thus even if Sam refuses to sleep with her ever again, he's still going to be emo!Sam! and torture himself about having slept with her in the first place. (Because being Sam, he'll convince himself that he should have somehow known it was Ruby from the start.) And thus a) Ruby has leverage on him b) the other demons will pick right up on that and use it against him.

8. I gaze upon Sam's declaration that he's done toying with his Amazing Demon Sammy Powers with much skepticism. Much skepticism, indeed. *gives him incredulous eyebrow*

*nods again, a lot* I remember there was a shot in S3 of Sam reading Dr. Faustus, which was a pretty anvilicious hint that Sam will go back and forth about the whole Amazing Demon Sammy Powers thing.

What was he reading at the motel in this episode, come to think of it? It would be very interesting if it were Faustus again, now wouldn't it?

Thinking such thoughts about my dear Sam is breaking my heart.

Therefore this explanation might help save my sanity!

:::clings to theory with you:::

I am similarly heartbroken to think Sam would be deliberately--especially after his OWN experience with possession and what he watched himself doing to Jo--violating a host body in such a manner.

But from Ruby's POV, it would make sense for her to pull that nasty of a trick on an unsuspecting Sam. Especially if she wasn't sure that in his grief/rage/angst after Dean's death, he wouldn't exorcise her on sight if she revealed herself too soon. So getting close to him would have required more, er, conventional means.*wry grin*
