Gulf Shores

After our friends wedding we rushed to my parent's house to pick up our loving child and whisk him away to the beach. We left Sunday around noon so that we could have a nice drive down and if we had to stop along the way it wouldn't be late when we finally arrived at our hotel. On the way down we managed to bump into one of my friends also down here vacationing just 15 miles up the beach from us, it was such a nice surprise to run into her and quite a coincidence we managed to stop at the same place on the same road at the same time.. just kindof neat.

We made it to our hotel room where William just bounced around and was in awe of the elevators and getting to push all the buttons. We went out to show him the beach and while he loved the sand he still doesn't care for the waves. He looks like the little birds that skirt the waters searching for little bites to eat.. running towards the water and then rushing back to avoid the waves.

William got to try some seafood and ate half of my crab claws and munched on some shrimp, I am so glad he likes seafood! He even ate a whole filet of fish tonight by himself. We all went down to the beach and I found a snail while searching for shells, William wasted no time in petting it and let it go back into the ocean.

Kevin went back into the hotel to get out sand buckets and shovels while I dug a trench for our sand castle. I got a little carried away and ended up digging down about 2ft... and then William wanted to stay in the trench... it was really funny to see him hiding in the trench behind the sand fort ( no longer the castle..) with out nicely dug moat allowing no water to pass through our kingdom.

Oh let us not forget our frozen custard... that stuff is like heaven in a cup! We went to go grab some after dinner tonight and I put a little of mine into a cup for William and he devoured it, then promptly went to sleep.. and stayed asleep.. he was so tired.. he's had such a busy week..exploring the world is exhausting :)

I had to make one of my many pitstops to search for a restroom and decided I might as well get to shop a bit while I am at it.. so I went to this place called the happy shak ( http://www.happyshak.com ) which has all sorts of hippy items, but most importantly... tie dye.. and hippy flowy skirts that I love so much! Oh I was in heaven.. and will be again because I am going back tomorrow to pick up a few things...

And vacation is still not over...More things to explore and more things to eat!
