So apparently in Texas, they were so cranky about other states letting gay people get married, that they had a spaz and passed this into law:
“This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.”
This was back in 2005, which means no-one in Texas has been married for the last four years, since some lawyers are arguing that marriage is pretty much identical to marriage.
I think they can defend their marriage rights under the constitution or something, but really, couldn't they have worded that a bit better?
