Reality strikes back 2.0

Yea, Yea. I know I've been bad about updating my LJ lately.

Alex's 29th Birthday was January 30th, and he had the day off so we could spend it snuggled up together playing WoW together and being silly. The only bad thing about that day, was first thing in the morning I had to go to the dentist. The porcalin filling on one of my canines decided it wanted to go AWOL and ran off on me, so I had to get it re-filled.

Went to the dentist and got it fixed (thank god we have some semblance of dental insurance now). I was worried to death about the insurance at first... and then the dentist scares us more by letting us know that a little bit of cavity had developed under/beside where the filling came out, and I might need a root canal if it was too close to the nerve.

I swear I must have dodged that root canal by a mere hair's width, which WOULD have been over a thousand dollars to repair (we'd of had to fork over about $300 that insurance didn't cover).

So we dodged one bullet, only to walk into another. Had to renew the liscence plate and went to do that, and they wanted $250 for the damn renewal sticker. Both of us were like "WTF?!" ... till mom explained to us that we were paying taxes on what the car was valued at, and the reason all other cars we had tags renewed on only cost $20 cause they were old POS cars, and this one was new.

So, in a financial battle of car renewal sticker vs paying rent, rent won. No cop in the county will pull us over for an expired sticker anyways considering who my mom is and that Alex does free translations for the police, any time of day or night when they need somebody reliable. Plus, Alex can always just slap a dealer tag on it till we get his big check and can afford the most expensive sticker EVAH.

....

And while typing out this update, I got a call from Alex at work. He just got off the phone with my mom.

I don't remember if I updated about this or not, but my Aunt Helen who lives out in Oregon was very deathly ill back around Thanksgiving, so much so that mom went out there for Thanksgiving to try and take care of her and such. She got her where she could eat solid foods again for Thanksgiving, but it was pretty apparent to everyone that she was dieing. Mom mostly went out there to help arrange her future funeral arrangements.

Well, she died this morning, leaving behind an 18yr old daughter and 16yr old son, Pearl and Jake.

This was expected to be honest, everyone knew she was dieing, and to be perfectly honest I hold no love lost for her knowing that she's gone. The only people I feel bad for, are her kids. Jake and Pearl were cool, I really liked them... and I don't know what they're going to do now that she's gone. I suppose they'll live with their dad now, who I never met but mom did over thanksgiving and said he was a really cool guy.

I doubt we'll be able to go out there for the funeral, not with the divorce mom is going through and the fact Alex and I can't afford it .... and frankly the only reason I'd go, would be if Pearl and Jake wanted me and if mom could go too.
