My cat doesn't want me to leave

Dante tried almost successfully to prevent me from doing the Voce Carolina auditions next week.

Before Christmas, I got a confirmation of my audition for a consortium of regional opera companies in the Carolinas. All I had to do was send a check to confirm my spot. So this afternoon when I got an email saying, "We haven't received your confirmation and will give away your spot if we don't hear from you by the end of the day," I panicked a little.

Now, the rest of the story, lifted from the email I sent the audition coordinator:
Thank you for being understanding. I am more than a little embarrassed. This story should at least make you smile, though.

Part of my confusion is that I thought I had taken care of everything to do with this audition before Christmas. I was a bit shaken to receive your email, mostly because I knew that *I* hadn't mailed anything. In a flurry, I printed the document, wrote the check, put it in an envelope, but then couldn't find stamps. While I was turning my office upside down trying to find them, I noticed an envelope peeking out from behind the radiator. It was the original confirmation. I saw it and remembered the story -- I had [planned on having Fred] mail it, and since I haven't seen it on my desk, I presumed he had. However, given the other detritus on the floor, I am sure one of my cats (probably the one who likes to sleep on my printer while I
work) had knocked it off. It's a good story -- "My cat tried to sabotage my audition." :-D

This time, I'm seeing the envelope to the Post Office myself. Thanks again,
Paul
