I had a wild idea to host what I'm calling a Community Dinner at a local venue. 12 people, $25 a head, four courses, I pick the menu, everything is served family style, bring your own wine.
I have 6 slots filled and 6 more yet to book. I'm doing some very low-key marketing, mostly calendar listings in the papers. I mentioned it when I was on the radio a couple weeks ago and to the Lake Pretentious ladies. There is a posting on the calendar on my website and I've updated my FB page a couple of times. In the last couple days I've gotten a few emails from people wanting to know what it will be like.
It will be like this: Sit, eat some good food, maybe have a glass of wine and make some pleasant conversation. Perhaps you'll meet someone interesting, maybe you won't. I can promise that the food will be good, but beyond that it's a crapshoot.
So now I've found myself in the interesting position of being a one-girl revival team for the old-fashioned dinner party. If you are anything close to local (by which I mean you don't have to get on a plane to get here), consider yourself invited. Please, come. Be part of my grand social experiment. Menu is below.
