because i'm an idiot who can't fit everything so well into her stories!

“What color?”

After he had been surprisingly asked out to homecoming by Ahyoung, she insisted that they bought their tux and dress now so that they could color coordinate. It didn’t seem like a bad idea, but he was never really fond of the idea of shopping with a girl. They always seemed to be so picky, and they needed everything to be picky. He silently prayed that she didn’t play the ‘is this one prettier than that one’ card on him because he wouldn’t know how to respond.

“Excuse me?”

“What color do you think our main color to be? You know, like my dress and your tie. We’re going to have to match up!”

He could hear the joy in her voice as she looked around on every rack, looking through her choices. She had already picked several dresses and they were hanging on her arm. It kind of shocked him how girls could hold so many clothes.

Looking over at the dresses he picked, he slightly frowned at the basic white and beige colors. He was always fond of something bold, and he was such that she would look great in a more popping color. So while she went to try on some dresses, he stayed behind to pick something out himself. Maybe he’d find a dress he liked that he would like her to try on.

“Shopping with your girlfriend?”

The employee scared him, but he quickly gave the lady a shake of his head along with a polite smile. “We’re just friends.”

“Just friends don’t come pick out dresses with each other.”

And with that she just left, and he couldn’t tell if she was trying to tell her something or if she was simply dropping a hint. Confused he went back to looking when he found something. He slowly took it off the rack and smiled when he saw the full thing. Excited, he rushed over to the waiting room because he couldn’t walk into the dressing room - he was not going to be labeled a pervert.

When she walked out, she was wearing a white, long dress, and that’s when he handed her the one he had chosen. “How about this one?”

“Red? Are you sure? I don’t really look good in red.”

She looked down at her current dress frowning before looking up at him. “You’ll look beautiful, trust me.” He handed her the dress before lightly pushing her back in.

After a few minutes, she stepped out again, and he couldn’t help but stare. She looked absolutely stunning just like how he imagined she would look. The smile on his face would not disappear and before she could even ask if she looked nice, he had already answered her.

“You look beautiful.”

"Hyung, you like her don't you?"

Why was it always Chanyeol that asked him these types of questions. Junmyeon continued to take a bite on his sandwich, pretending that he didn't hear the question, but his dongsaeng was smarter than he was, and he knew that he wouldn't stop until he heard an answer.

Letting out a defeated sigh, he put the sandwich down and groaned quietly, not sure what to say.

"I don't know. That's my honest answer, Chanyeol."

He turned his head to the side to face the younger boy's face of sympathy, laughing when he felt the hand on his shoulder. "I think you do."

"Well, that's what you think."

"No, that's also what you think. Come on, hyung. It's so obvious. Stop lying to yourself and stop letting your brain do all the thinking and listen to your heart for once."

"Where did you learn such encouraging words?"

He was obviously confused because Chanyeol was always the one that was joking around and could never be serious so to hear such words from the boy was definitely a surprise.

"You said them to me last year when I was devastated that I didn't make the basketball team, remember? Anyway, I would stop lying to myself and maybe come to accept what's so obvious in everybody else's eyes."

And with several pats on his back, Chanyeol walked away.

He raised his kids well.
