Yesterday I went to the cinema (for the first time in a few years, which is strange) and saw "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom".
I feel like maybe I should have rewatched the first one before going to this but I did end up enjoying it. The fairly long (ish. Well, over 2 hours) running time went pretty quickly and it didn't feel overlong which is good. The characterisation of the human characters was okay but the main stars of this were the dinosaurs (which is how it should be). Raptor, T-Rex, brachiosaurus, among various others and the introduction of the human engineered Indoraptor (when will these scientist learn to just leave things alone?!) all featured.
I thought the storyline was decent (and the main bad guys were people and not the dinosaurs) and even though the people like to think they know best I think it's clear that they really don't. Owen and Claire (Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard) were good together and the Maisie storyline was quite interesting. I was also pleased that the main four characters (plus Maisie) survived - most of the people that were killed by the dinosaurs kinda deserved it anyway.
Oh, and the brachiosaurus scene came really close to making me cry (I think if I had been at home by myself I would have gone, but I held it in because I was in a full cinema). Such a sad scene.
Anyway, I enjoyed this movie and think it's a fairly good additon to the Jurassic Park franchise and I'm looking forward to the inevitable sequel. I think I'd give this 8 out of ten because dinosaurs are just cool.
Trailers:
"Ocean's 8" - Not really interested. Might watch it if it was on TV.
"Mortal Engines" - looked boring.
"Bohemian Rapsody" - You know the soundtrack is gonna be good. Rami Malik looks the part too.
"Mission Impossible: Fall Out" - how many of these have there been now? I think I've only seen the first one so I have no interest in this. Sorry.
"Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse" - I didn't realise they do were animated Spider movies. This trailer looked okay but I'm not really that interested in all these comic book movies.
I feel like there might have been another trailer but I can't remember what it might have been. Oh well.
On Friday night I also watched "IT" which I thought was pretty good - totally overlong but entertaining enough and all the kid actors were very good. I've never read the book, or seen the mini series so I have no comparisms to make but I thought it was quite good.
