So, I haven't posted in a little while - Tuesday was my last entry - I guess I just didn't really have much to say. Been watching some shows but didn't feel the need to post about them which is weird.
Doctor Who 8x02
I wasn't at all excited that they were doing a Dalek episode this early in the series but this episode was a lot better than I expected it to be and was a lot more like "Dalek" from season 1 than some of the other boring and naff Dalek focused episodes we've had.
I think Capaldi's Doctor is settling in quite nicely and I like seeing the darker side of the Doctor especially when the Daleks are involved. And I liked the idea of the Doctor and Clara being miniaturised so they could go into the Dalek and fix it - although surely they must have known that as soon as they fixed it the Dalek would go back to being "bad" again? Especially as they knew that whatever was wrong was what was causing the Dalek to want to destroy all Daleks?
I thought it was good seeing the teacher side of Clara - well, sort of - I am curious about how old she's actually supposed to be because becoming a trained teacher takes a lot of time and then to actually get a job in the field can take time as well. I guess she's probably supposed to be about 25?
I also liked the introduction of Mr Pink - I can't remember his first name - and I'm interested in seeing how he's gonna fit in.
Oh, and Michelle Gomez made another appearance. I can't figure her out.
This episode wasn't brilliant - it was all a bit "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" meets "InnerSpace" (nothing wrong with those movies, btw, this episode just wasn't that original) - but it was better than I was expecting from a Dalek-centric episode.
Graceland 2x11
This season has got a bit dark and intense and I'm not entirely sure if I like it. Summer shows aren't meant to be like that. They're supposed to be light, aren't they?
I thought the fall out to Briggs' phone call was quite interesting - I thought it was weird that he automatically jumped to the conclusion that it was Mike and was willing to kill him for it (or set him up to be killed). If he hadn't got that call he would have just stood by and let Mike be murdered. Who is this guy? I thought him and Mike were friends? I kinda miss the days of season 1 when everyone got on and didn't want to kill each other.
So, Charlie was the one making those calls - and she's known for all this time what Briggs did. Was she waiting for him to confess to her? I think he was about to wasn't he?
I'm not sure how things are gonna play out from now on but things just seem so fractured now. It makes me quite sad.
I'm still not enjoying this season as much as season one - maybe I miss the more light stuff?
On Thursday night "Franklin & Bash" finally returned to UK TV with season 3 - E4 had the rights to seasons 1 and 2 and showed them ages ago but then decided not to pick up season 3 so it hasn't had a home on UK TV til now. SonyTV have it. It was good to have it back but it'd been so long since it was on that I didn't remember any thing about the previous season finale at all. There were references to events that I didn't even remember. I enjoy this show, it's like the perfect summer show. Just light and entertaining. And the chemistry between Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar is really good.
I also watched "Chicago PD" on Wednesday night - I'm not sure how I feel about this show. I want to like it, and I do like some bits, but it just seems so dated to me. I don't think it's as good as "Chicago Fire".
In other news: I'm going back to work tomorrow - after seven long weeks off - it'll be good to get back into the routine but, not gonna lie, I've got quite used to being off and being able to sleep in every day.
