PNW 1x06
Another cool episode this week - it was good to see the fall out from the events of last week. I liked that they hadn't just forgotten about it. Nice stuff with Ange too, I was quite surprised to see how affected she was by what happened and that she doesn't want to do the job anymore. I'm not sure how I feel about the route it seems like they might be taking with her and Evan though. Obviously they have history (seems like they go way back) and while I find that interesting I don't think I want them to go down the romance route so I kinda hope they don't do that. I hope he loves her in a friendship way and doesn't want her to leave because of that.
I liked all the discussions about how they can't share their lives with someone outside of their group because they can't really share everything with them. I liked the scenes between Evan and Dylan when they talked about that - I also liked her encouraging him to talk to Ange about not wanting her to leave.
It was good to see tension still there between Mac and Evan but good to see them still working together. Evan obviously still blames himself and Mac probably still blames him a little bit too but I think there were baby steps towards there friendship being the way it was though.
The stuff between Ange and Leeds was a good balance to the main story (more on that later) but I really can't figure Leeds out. I kinda want to like but at the same time I just don't trust him at all.
The main storyline was fun and those little, but dangerous, dinosaurs were badass! I loved how smart they were - and I loved the scene when Mac was hunting one of them down.
I'm enjoying this show. Now, when's Andrew Lee Potts gonna be in it again?
After that I watched the season finale of "Perception" - 1x10 - I enjoyed this finale but it wasn't as epic as last weeks penultimate episode. There seems to be a trend these days of penultimate episodes being better than finales. I don't like that. Finales are meant to be the big ones. I did like the explanation about Natalie though - I had quite a few theories about her and I was way off! I really liked the revelation that his problems actually started way earlier than he thought and that he never knew "Natalie" at all - everything between them had all been in his head. Interesting - and slightly convenient - that his new doctor was the woman he'd seen but not actually interacted with while he was young. I'm interesting in how his friendship with the doctor might progress now she's decided that she can't have any professional relationship with him but would like to be friends instead.
The continuation - and end - of the case wasn't quite as cool as I was expecting though. It wasn't a big conspiracy after all.
All in all, I enjoyed this season. Eric McCormack was really good in it throughout and, once her character found her feet, Rachael Leigh Cook was good too. Will probably give season 2 a watch.
Then I watched "Chicago Fire" - 1x07 - thought this episode was okay. The show seems much better now they've got rid of the Casey and Voight storyline out of the way - I don't think that story worked very well. I'm interested in the Chief and who he lost - there's definitely a lost child storyline there and I'm interested in where that might go. The Severide stuff is obviously an ongoing thing too. While I enjoy a bit of man-pain I'm not sure how long this can go on for before his injury hinders an attempt to save someone's life.
Oh, I also watched "Alphas" - 2x11 - thought it was an okay episode. Nice to see Cameron and Kit interacting and Sean Astin making an appearance. Cool stuff with Gary too - is his Mum gonna be okay? Still think Ryan Cartwright is brilliant!
