Back from ConFusion 2008

ConFusion reminds me of LunaCon, in all the best ways. It's a small-to-medium con, which makes it personable and cozy, but with the clout to get some excellent scifi guests of honor. Good kids track, some interesting panels and programming, and a well-stocked con suite.

We're fairly conservative with our con-going budget for this year, but since theferrettRead more... )

Mmm toasted elves. I like when they get crispy.

There was a lack of crispy elves there, sadly. But there was a benevolent Jesus!

What's the rest of your schedule like? I'm booked for Boskone and Denvention (Worldcon).

Hmm. We're definitely doing Worldcon in Denver. And WisCon, before that.
I'm fairly certain we can't do Boskone, though.

Actually, that would kinda rule. Ferrett's also sharing a room, so we're on our own.

Errr umm *puts on wise one hat*..
Ok! So.. let's say we're dealing with a flat/non-hilly state, right? And.. the curvature of the earth is round! So like.. anywhere you stand, or anywhere you drive, you're conceptually riding downward. Right?
So, ignoring for a second the imperialist north-america-centric versions of maps where North is 'Up' or some such villainy, when you drive (to anywhere), you're actually driving downhill. Hence, drive down.

(YESSSSSSSS! I winn!)

The lab I am part of is working on psychological elements of gaming & game enjoyment, although not from a narrative perspective... I'd be interested in names or info of people you were impressed by, if you have them? We are always looking to nab more people for our conferences as well :)

oh yeah, hmm, no wonder, you were in Michigan. The guy who is "mr narration" in our dept just finished at UM. I wonder if he was there? Maybe one day I'll come out of my academic hole and realized when things are happening around me... you all were just 45 minutes away, and it sounds like it was fun. Blargh. Next year I'll pay attention.
